I have read a lot of mixed opinions about this movie. I was in the mall the other night, and I finally had the chance to buy a brand new copy, on DVD. I had tried Best Buy a few weeks earlier, but they didn't have it. The movie was only $10, which was great. So, I finally picked it up. I have memories of that movie, when I was kid. But honestly, I can't see why some would actually hate this movie. Personally, I love it, and I think it is one of the best movies ever made. There is a lot going on in the movie, and I love the actors that portray the characters. Dennis Hopper is funny as hell. And the infamous part 3/4 of the way in the movie, when they finally get their classic Mario Bros. suits, that we know them for. I don't know why some hate it, but I'm glad there is a such thing as an opinion, because I love the movie. And, if they were to make this movie today, it would suck as hell. They don't know how to make good movies these days. That being said, is there anyone here besides myself that actually likes the movie?

I don't consider it to be a particularly good film, but it's not so bad it's unwatchable. It's good for the lulz, as they say... like Star Trek V, Rocky V, or UHF.

I've seen it a few times, and I'm not embarrassed by that fact as much as the fact I actually rented the Doom movie on OnDemand (totally wasn't worth the $4).

I would be more inclined to watch the movie if Mario and Luigi were portrayed by Lou Albano and Danny Wells.
If all these companies didn't have different contracts with different actors, it would be easier to watch.

I didn't really feel for the movie when I watched it back in the days. They shoulda make the movie into a dark cartoon movie imo.

Alright, I go t about ten minutes into the movie and stopped it.
My greatest fears were true, and the casting director should be shot.
Mario looks like Danny Devito, and Luigi doesn't even look Italian.
I had a hard time overlooking that, plus I didn't feel like watching a movie at the time, so...

When I was a kid I remember being fairly disappointed with it. It pretty much caused a collective WTF for a whole generation. I understand that they were trying to do something different, but if you're a kid that likes Mario games you're not too interested in something "different." Nowadays I view it as a campy flick that's hard to watch without laughing at the bad acting, writing, and production values. Plus, having that strange fungus everywhere was just gross and annoying.

It's not a good movie. In fact is is definitely a bad movie. But it is not so bad that it is not unenjoyable.

This movie was the first movie I owned as a kid, and I still own it on VHS. We all loved it growing up. I see now what the point of the movie was as a money maker, but the whole meteor thing was really the only thing that caught my interest in the movie. Also, the comic relief still kinda makes me laugh a bit...

Honestly, if I had to rate it I'd give it a 6...

Generally all films based in videogames are bad .I personally think that this movie stinks. When I was a children for a strange reason I saw this movie and I liked, but when I grew these interest in the film that converts in hatred. Yes is a bad movie, but was the first movie inspirated in a videogame.

Hitman was alright. And the Super mario bros super show turned out okay, (read not good but okay), so they really had no excuse for something like this.

Well, a whole lot of hilarious local meme's have sprouted as a result of this film, so, it can't be that terrible. I last watched a long, long time ago, however. I still remember the one thing that annoyed me, that bowser, or "King Koopa", and his goons, were portrayed as being human. That really ruined the film.

I liked it a little, wasn't the best, but I liked it nonetheless.

Christians hate it due to lolevolution.

It was okay at best, but not good enough for me to want to watch it again.
If the sci-fi emphasis was removed (since flying turtles and plumbers traveling through pipes don't really need to make sense), I'd say it would've been better. The story did not follow along any of the normal game plots.

Great movie. Just like the SF movie and the MK movie. 3 great movies that people love to hate.

I've never seen the Street Fighter movie, but I did watch Mortal Kombat less than a month ago. I couldn't quit laughing until the awkward ending, at which at laughed even more.
That's one movie I might actually watch twice...

There were a lot of memories when I first saw that movie. My friends and I were having a party at my house that day, and we got some Salsa sunflower seeds. I think that may be when they first came out too. Anyway, as a kid, I loved that movie, and I'm always going to love the movie because of the fond memories associated with it.
