Ranks are in now, thanks to the continued efforts of the board's resident programmer. Also, requirements for custom title have been implements, and are as follows:

800 posts + 1 year
1200 posts
Be on staff

The small Traffic Light that I used in my custom title as a fake avatar won't see the light of day in a long while, oh well.

What I meant to say was, will there be a page in the menu up there in where one can see the ranks and how other members are ranked?

Also, it seems as if my custom title still is there; it's probably either a problem with the "1 year" check or it not being erased yet.

I wonder how differently it is implemented compared to how it is implemented in AcmlmBoard classic. Is the rank selection now performed in the same database query as the posts? Do the ranks wrap around at 10k?

Are there plans to add any of the other ranksets soon? (eg Zelda) What about the SMRPG rank set that was posted on I3 but not used? This not not a big deal. I will probably stick to the original Mario set.

I was lazy and just made it make an additional query for each post rendered.

Then, judging from what you'd essentially need to do to pick the correct rank for a given user (join unto ranks where the rankset# matches and the number of posts required is below or equal to the number of posts the user has, order by descending number of posts, limit 1 since MySQL wouldn't allow something like p=max(p)), this might actually be, for all means and purposes, the faster solution, though less elegant. Having compared the average render times, the 20 or so additional queries per page didn't have any visible impact within the first three digits at all.

We can talk about wrapping around when somebody actually reaches that postcount.

As for adding the other ranksets, it's just a matter of INSERT [...] SELECT [...] and cp calls. In fact, I think I'll add Zelda now while I'm at it.

i find it unfair that we have to lose custom titles at the expense of ranks but meh, no one is going to care about my opinion anyways.

I agree, only new members shouldn't be allowed to have custom titles but the members that signed up when custom titles were free should be allowed to keep them. "no one is going to care about my opinion" may be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

"Posting is low so lets offer people their custom titles back for posting a lot!" With the low activity of the board, 800 is quite a bit to ask of someone who's been registered for a year, and 1200 is even too much more to ask for. Lower it to something more along the lines of 500 after a year and 750 otherwise. Is there going to be a ranks.php? ____________________
