I welcome inactivity when the alternative is threads like Oh hey guys.
I didn't know that would happen.

I don't blame you, I blame the user base that was adding fuel to the fire.

I think it would be efficient to drop the N-Bombs on Officer's Club altogether. Even back when it was active, it wasn't used for much more than trolling.

Combine it with that other shit slinging forum. The one that's more politically aimed. Is there one of those?

I don't know if you guys noticed, but two forums haven't been posted in for over a month (Officers Club and Adult Discussion)

If you're going to start giving shit the axe you might as well start there, that's two down

If you want to you could merge writing and story (although to call the story forum "writing" is an offense to literary history)

And honestly, you could probably merge hardware/software and programing into one hugeass computing forum

Will merging subforums introduce more activity? Why do something if it won't help rectify the problem?

Not by my recollection. It was fairly well moderated when I first started coming to Acmlm's board. AB seemed more like a community back then and many posters seemed comfortable bringing their real world problems to the Officer's Club to ask for advice. At some point moderation on it got lax + the board lost a lot of active users. Btw, I assume that you mean Neutron bomb b/c N-bomb more casually refers to the N-word (racial slur).

Well, I mostly referred to Officer's Club's state in ABII - I know well it worked much better before the first split. As for the "N-word" thing, I didn't know about that.

Regarding the merging forums debate, I agree with neotransotaku as far as all those solutions seem as unnecessarily complicated replacement plugs for the seemingly trivial way of improving activity by starting more threads on interesting topics that invite lurkers and the still considerable amount of people browsing the forum every day to post. Of course, decreasing overall space might still reduce the detrimental perception of "tumbleweeds" in some corners of the forum.

Dying MMORPGs have been known to consolidate several rather empty servers into one big server in order to offer one well-populated world instead of several barren ones

I think a slight adaptation of that logic can apply here

I thought it was only for like one iteration.

Then I might just remember wrong.

I was thinking it'd gaurantee the existence of even more stupidity than the board could handle.

Then again, you can't walk ten feet in the internet without tripping over a stupid person, place, or thing, so meh.

Well, creating new interesting threads that encourage the members to post in them by their sole existence seems to work, so go with those.

Case in point, I somehow managed to once again post without reading the posts that I was referring to.

Deep inside we all want to think that asking why nobody goes here will somehow bring back all those who once did. Its sad, but this place started dying shortly after it went up.
The inactivity has formed a vicious circle: Inactivity→People Leave→More Inactivity→More people leave→etc...

SMWCentral stole the SMW hacking populace.
Justice League took SM64 and Rom hacking, and most of the general chat for that matter.
Modern Art, Writing, and Stories have died due to lack of creatively-expressive users.

Basically, our problem is that we cannot seem to attract enough people. Either we pick up the activity among those of us that are left, welcome new blood however stupid it seems, and return to exchange of large amounts of awesome-coolness, or we will be in some seriously deep shit.

* Grey Mario jumps back onto the thread with content and a different point of view

As for SMWCentral, it's their own damn fault they added a forum - now they have to live with the sheer amounts of stupidity.

Justice League: ...what's Superman and the gang got to do with it? It's spelled Justus.

Lack of creatively-expressive users: um, who cares...? The Writing forum just became a place for people to dump game scripts and never really a decent place for really interesting writings. Modern Art was never as frequently updated as DeviantArt, stop wanting it to be. And the Story Forum, well, everyone just lost interest in it.

There's my view on your view, take it or smash it.

And as for why this thread is still open... maybe it's one of the few threads tht is actually getting some legitimate activity, unlike half of the stuff in Spatulard.
