It's functioning and my test levels worked out OK, so here's version 0.1 of it.

http://smkdan.eludevisibility.org/other/n&medit.zip

There's not much to see, so here's 3 pics.

Something random I made:

Yeah:

The final level from the original:

It manages free space as you save so larger or smaller levels are possible. You can reduce (not increase) the amount of levels in the game and change their type. The readme has a few other details if you're interested.

Thanks to Trax and elobelo for data used in the editor, FCEUXDSP for some palette stuff.

WOW, looks like it works great. I tested it with my DK2 hack and it loaded all of my custom levels, and had all of my custom graphics in there.

Again great job. Now I might finish the game I started years ago.

I hadda transfer the graphics in my hack from one rom to the other suggest in thge readme, it's no sweat since it took about 10 minutes to do it. I'll edit the palettes when I get back home later on (gotta get things ready for Momma's Day)

The editor looks pretty sweet, easy to use, those are the best kind to me lol! I'll play with it later on tonight. Thanks smkdan for taking the interest in making the editor.

I downloaded this, just for shits and giggles. I'll try it later, possibly next week.

...that's "available", by the way.

Awesome! I'm guessing this is the final build? The palettes are easy to figure out, it's the title screen data I have a hard time figuring out. It's looks compressed but I'm not sure, thanks for making the editor smkdan! <3

Thanks everyone.

Well, it's a minimal editor but it does its job. Everything about the game is dead simple, I just thought I'd give people an automated way to composed levels, since doing that by hand along with compressing it must be a pain (as elobelo probably knows). Unless someone points out a flaw I'm keeping it like this, unless I get the urge to add something to it. Right now the only 'update' was fixing the spelling of available.

I think I found bug;

I'm using rom called "Nuts & Milk (J) [p1]" ...

EDIT: and rom works on emulator whithout any problems

EDIT: can you make like when pushing ctrl+N to delete every block/sprites etc?

EDIT: WHY THE FUCK IT DELETES MY LEVEL IF I FORGET TO PUT TRAMPOLINE TO IT? Also is there any way to make level whithout that damn trampoline?

-It's implied in the readme, but the pirate will not work with it ("Nuts & Milk (J).nes" is my good ROM).
-I'll put it in the next one whenever I make it.
-The game demands a trampoline, haven't looked into what disables it. It doesn't delete your level, it just reloads it if you tried to save and reverts it if you changed the level. Wierd.

Legoman: I went through the same thing yesterday, that's why I hadda transfer the graphics from one rom to another. Use the right rom and you'll be all set, incase you fellas missed it...

I'm telling you, if it wasn't for the fellas taking the time to make editors for games, the scene woulda never got to where it is imo.

Just started using this thing. I must ask though... why is it left button pick up, right button place? I somewhat expected the opposite, which was in many other editors.

Edit: what the...? Sprite mode has it left button place instead! What's up with that?

Edit: ...aaand for no obvious reason whatsoever it switched around again

I don't see anything wrong with a left button for picking up and a right button place. LM's 8x8 tile editor, for instance, does that as well...

LM aside, what would you say the primary function of the left mouse button is when clicking in a editor's level map?

This is also why I tend to write editors that can assign different tiles to each button. With the right tile preset to right, you can draw something, make a mistake and fix it in one click without even moving the cursor. Pick up by holding Control or something like that, assuming you don't have a tool palette.

That, or a context menu.

It's enough of a good start, already...
I can confirm, the game gives a ROUND ERROR if you have both trampolines set to FF...

Good job so far, smkdan...

I'm not sure why the game wants a trampoline that badly. You can see in level 18 for example that it was just tacked onto the side of the level just for the sake of being there.

Update: It's a tad more complete now.

An option to swap levels to reorder if you please and clear levels has been added. There's also an ingame palette editor since I figure it'd be handy to see how it would look like in the editor and tweak as you go along. The link is the same, I just FTP'd over the old zip.

I'm enjoying making levels with the editor, neat addition of the palette editor too!
