My avatar is supposed to be a transparent PNG.
For some reason, it has a black box around it. I was told that it's a browser dependant bug, but I verified that it certainly isn't.
Is there something wrong in the avatar system?

Ahhhh!! The Finder! KILL IT! KILL IT!

The Finder is one of the few things I dislike about my OS. Dammit Apple, fix the damned Finder already.

The board recodes all images before internally storing them. While I haven't looked into it more deeply yet, I suppose the PNG alpha channel is lost in process.

I hope they fix the Finder in Leopard.

Well, the Finder Has been looking exactly the same in Panther and Tiger, so I think they'll keep it the same way in Leopard too.
But Puma, Cheetah and Jaguar Finders = Utter fail

What's even more creepy is that I actually converted the .png to .icns and replaced the Finder symbol in my Computer.
Now it's like that all the time.

Not sure what it could be since it worked earlier (and I even changed mine maybe a hour ago), but it's probably nothing wrong on your side ...

The resizing (and resaving in PNG, dropping transparency and GIF animation) only happens if the image is too large, otherwise it uses the image as is, so resize it before uploading.

It also resizes a copy to fit 60x60 in the memberlist no matter what, so everyone will get the black background there ... but that's better than letting irregular image sizes making the page look like crap
