So now that all 30 teams are a-campin' and actually playing games, I think it's high time we got this going. And even though it's from the Onion, this appears to be pretty much dead-on:

"If what we've heard is correct, then Matsuzaka indeed possesses a Power Level of well over 9,000," said ESPN's Peter Gammons, struggling to contain his excitement on Tuesday's edition of Baseball Tonight. "Over 9,000! Which, of course, is only to be expected of the ballplayer whom sources say descended into the Underworld to spit in the flaming eye of the Lord of Hell and steal the secret power of the Onikaze, or 'demon-storm' pitch, which tails away nicely from both lefties and righties."

welp. that was possibly the funniest thing I've ever read.

As for Beantown, I'll say this: who fucking knows?

JC Romero's ERA was in the hundreds of thousands last year...so we signed him. Brendan Donnelly's ERA has been on the rise for 3 years now...so we traded for him. JD Drew has a reputation around the league for being a shithead, and not giving 100%, so we're giving him 70 million dollars. Our second basemen, who is supposed to be a legit prospect hit .191 last year down the stretch. We're banking on our 33 year old third baseman to equal the output of one of his best statistical years. Who knows who's going to close. Varitek put up just plain putrid numbers. Our closer from last year is switching back to a starter, we signed a semi-tested Japanese player for a quadrillion dollars, Mike Timlin is 90 years old or something, Josh Beckett gave up a career high number of home runs last year, oh, and Jon Lester got fucking cancer.

So yeah...who fucking knows.

I've lost all interest in the Nationals/Expos/whatever they are. :\

Might as well jump on the Toronto bandwagon this year because they'll be fun to watch if nothing else.

*bump* Hehe

So I know I am jumping the gun here, but my Marlins actually won their first game and so far are doing very well in their second. So right now, I'm gonna take what I can get.

Yes, the Marlins are beating up on the Expos early on this season.

If Washington wins more than 60 games this year, I'll be stunned.

The bet is that the Marlins will not win more than 70 games.

Can I change my Nationals prediction to "50" instead of "60" games won? They look awful so far.

Do they even have owners yet?

Yeah. Every single team that plays them.

(Upon further review, this would've been funnier if they hadn't already been owned by the rest of the league. )

The Pirates have looked good so far except for their games against the Reds where they lost both of them.

I'm hopingfor a good season for the Mets. I think the Orioles are doing ok so far... (though I didn't see their last game.)

Orioles
lolol

They have no chance. The Red Sox and Yankees own the AL East. Not to mention, the Blue Jays have Vernon Wells and Roy Halladay.

Also, Dice-K mania is in full swing, he looked pretty good in his first outing.

You say this as I watch them get beat by the O's right now (meh... it's really a rerun for the games over the weekend. I missed them so I figure it's a good idea to cach up.)

I really have nothing against the Yankees. In fact I still like them. It's that I prefer the Mets over the Yankees. I also like the O's because I've been a fan of them all my life for local reasons. I'm not letting these "Nationals" take my love for the O's .

Are you kidding? I hate the Yankees, I'm a Sawx fan. However, when it comes down to it, the evil empire will always be there. They will stumble early because their pitching is weak, but when it gets to the stretch run, they'll do whatever it takes to be there. The O's just do not have enough in their staff or lineup to contend, I don't think.

Good news, to balance the old: Remember Rick Ankiel? Rookie phenom as a pitcher, then lost all command? Went down to the minors two years ago to try and hack it as an outfielder. Well, after slapping about 30 (!) homers in AAA this season, he just came up (replacing Scott Spiezio, who's in rehab... no reason given, presumably drugs) to the Cardinals, and smacked a three-run homer tonight. It was his third career homer (he hit two as a pitcher) but his first since 2000.
