Well I certainly liked Mountain Heights the most

I didn't like Mountain Heights, as it wasn't that creative. The only creative part I saw was the lava pillar room, but the rest seemed like a failed attempt at creativity, making it worse.

This isn't a "creativity" contest, it's a "level design" contest.
A level doesn't need to have a gimmick to have good level design.

Its design rating was OK, but its creativity rating wasn't...I think its final rating was around 35-40, or in that range. Another thing that brought it down was that there was one point that you could get stuck in, as the pipe was raised one tile above the ground.

Toolassisted run of shellkickers cavern for anyone not finishing it up. Tool-assisted, becuse I rewind as soon I screwed up... god that part with the green koopa was just tedious.

Also didn't pick up one of the dragon coins, nor took the secret which you can find if you keep flying to the right. I also abused a bug with the P-balloon, and used the cape for a part that was meant for the balloon.

pieguy, you didn´t need to enter the damn pipe, you could just start climbing again, as the moving platform would reappear where it was at the beggining!

It didn't for me.

I wouldn't have taken away as many points if it did.

I don't think we need this thread stickied anymore.

And yes, I'm aware I'm bumping it now. Just making people aware if they have any more comments before it disappears.

And for a next time, we might actually require submissions to only been sent to this contest...

When should we have the next one? Maybe in six months, or maybe three... :o

Hopefully next time we'll get more participants.

well if it was me, I'd choose that the next one be a boss battle design contest. I'd say every entry can have up to 3 bosses, one on each of levels 104, 105, and 106. Each must be an alteration of a standard SMW boss (koopa kid, bowser, reznor or big boo) with custom blocks, sprites, and ASM allowed. The focus should be on beating the boss rather than getting to it, and graphics, beyond "do the tiles match" should not be considered. I'd definitely be willing to judge something like that too. I've personally come up with at least 10 different interesting takes on the big boo boss, and it'd be very nice to see what others can come up with.

That would be interesting.

Pretty much anything could be done with a Big Boo. :o
