They're all cool, but perhaps you could try a bit less dithering?
I love dithering, yes, but in some of your work, you dither the same color too much.

never use the spraycan? i think i'd disagree... as long as it's a spraycan with options that are very nice to use. it's a cheap and easy method of texturing for small tiles. i used it a lot for the rpg i was working on. i turned down its frequency to low and just moved it across the, say, wood or something, with minor touchups for an improved look. the randomness made the wood look nice.

now, if you mean like how people use it for grass or something... then i agree.

The whole point of pixel art is control: Once you know how to generate a texture better on your own, you'll find it easier to do that instead of using spraycan. I'm not saying a spraycan doesn't have its place, I'm just saying that when it comes to tools, spraycan is probably the least useful of all of them.

I've been doing that alot lately, actually. I haven't worked many small sprites recently, but generally the smaller something is the less I dither. I know its a problem.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by dither the same color too much? Perhaps you could point me to an example in a specific piece or something?

My best pixel art that I can think of (not counting sprites and such, but I don't feel like digging 'em up):

Some one wanted to fit "Nice job!" into 16x16. I managed to do it!

asspat?

WTF? All I did was compliment your work because I think it looks good. No reason for the hostility.

You're the only one being hostile.

(for "make a tower being struck by lightning")
simple look, I don't know if I like it or hate it.

not even half-finished mockups trying to find how I want to make tiles

lightning, striking a tower, my take on it. 12c

I would love to help shadic, except for the fact that I wouldn't =(. After so much charity artwork you get pretty sick of it.

Especially when people who you give charity artwork don't finish what they're doing with it, right? I would've loved playing that pinball game.

Anyways, I didn't get that last sketch when you posted it in IRC, but I do now. Nice pun

nah, the charity artwork gripe I'm going through is more towards real life people, not just unfinished projects.

Yeah, school stress, your roommate keeping you awake and annoying you, having to flush someone else's diarrhea before you use the toilet, smelling cigarettes every day despite the fact that you don't smoke and you're in a non-smoking dorm, loud subwoofers being blasted a few doors down, girls getting overly dramatic and emo over relationships and other trivial things...

Yeah, it kinda saps ambitions and motivations out of you.

Edit: And don't even get me started on the stuff that happens at home that I need to worry about...
