How the hell is it possible to clone mario like that without lagging up the game o-O

Looks fake, but if it isn't, please let me know.
It probably took a lot of level asm to that

edit:
Was it really just a bunch of failed tas' with sprite's layered on top everything? It really does seem a bit fake and not possible with smw's crappy engines.

don't know, but it's one of the best things I've seen in the last five minutes!

... No, it's actually awesome...

looks more an emulator-related thing to me, though.

Of course it's not an effect in the game.

Judging from stuff I'm too lazy to list, it's most likely a TAS (except it's not a speedrun) where the "failed" runs were kept, recorded (with only the sprite layer on) and somehow pasted together. (One could modify an emulator to output how far the level has scrolled for each frame and use that info to piece it together properly.)

Ah, guess I was right.

This can be locked now.I just needed an answer from an advanced hacker.

It even says that in the video description:

"134 superimposed playthroughs of Kaizo Mario World. "

Did you read it?

I wouldn't lock it, cause it looks cool.

Maybe move it, maybe.

Reminds me about that video, where someone took a racing game and took lots of lots of time trial runs. It no longer looked like a car racing game, but more like a liquid that was flowing down a slope. Imagine if someone did the same with SMW, though it would be way more tricky considering how SMW works...

It looks really cool, but I don't think it's an implemented feature to SMW.
Some crazy emulator feature or a video edit.

It helps to read the other posts in the thread before posting.

@tp: Why lock the thread? There's no reason to.

Now the quesion is, how did they combine all the playthroughs?

Yeah.
If it was a just plain layer effect then the screen wouldn't follow the main mario while other ones died.

He hacked snes9x to implement it; it's a custom version of snes9x he made himself.

Anybody who hasn't clicked on Ailure's link to read the explanation, do it. At first I thought this was just some goofy thing with excess sprites , but no -- this is the best hack-related video I've ever seen, and the guy's reason for doing it only makes it that much better. Awesome.

Now if the video creating part was implemented to be more platform independent, it would be good.

You can record sessions, failed and succeful ones on all platforms but for some reason the recording part is Dependant on Mac OS X and quicktime.

Here's post #5006; do I at least get six fireworks as I jump onto the flagpole?

And that 100-Mario attack would make for an extremely fun game if someone could develop it.
