That's not going to be in the final version. SMBspecial has a flight power'up that allows Mario to "swim" through the air as if it were water and I think it was actually a wing icon. I'll probably make an updated version of it for the final product.

I'd also like to mention that the power'up that belongs in that hidden block was originally the Hudson Bee mascot. It allowed the player to use continues. Since that function is already available I'm thinking replacing it with a 3up Moon. Or I'll do something really special if I get better at ASM..

Random screenshots of my current hack have been popping up from time to time, so I'll post some of the more recent ones here.


Garden level! As you see, I ripped decorations from SMB1, and this also showcases my custom grassland graphics.


You have to jump back down to get that Yoshi Coin.


Bouncing off of Monty Moles.



This level has a puzzle at the end!

Something about that ground makes me want to find the nearest bottomless pit and jump in it.

Now that you mention it, the nippers/munchers/I can't remember what they're called... They look like there's foam in their mouths. That could use some fixing.

The ground doesn't look like... ground. It needs more brown. That's really all I can say. It looks okay, though. The trees are a bit bright, though.

I know I can fix the 'm' in the word Cosmos, but the problem with the other two words is that I never drew them. I took them from SMA. As for adding Mario, I have the intention to do so, but the title screen is done on layer 1 and layer 2 (because of layer 3's stupid 2bpp restriction ).

I just realized the issue with this. It's layer 1 that I need stationary. Layer 1 is designed to sit over the top of layer 2 (and is therefore what I used for the lettering and border of the title), and keeping layer 2 stationary is among the least of my worries.

As long as the level doesn't move why don't you just put a background in?
And you can always put the title on Layer 2 with a background.
