OK, I digged myself through the ROM Map from smwcentral but I didn't found any adress. My question is: How can I change the palette that is used for the block bounce sprite of the question block and the turn block? They're currently using palette 8 which makes it impossible to change the colors while having a custom palette. I hope someone knows the adresses for BOTH so I can change them. I would really appreciate it.

I asked the same question months ago before Icegoom went missing. He gave me the ROM addresses somewhere at SMW Central in the Advanced SMW Hacking forum. Either that or it's somewhere missing in the SMW Hacking forums here. I'll let you know if I find it.

EDIT: Just realized that you're talking about another block/sprite. At first I thought you meant the Jumping Note Block. Sorry about that.

boingboingsplat provided these to me recently:

x10989 bounce block properties. 7 bytes corresponding to a different bounce block each. They're in xyppccct format. If you need info on the format head over to the SMWiki.

1-Turn block with item / ! block
2-Note block
3-? block
4-Unused side bounce turn block
5-Glass block (the one that contains the roulette power'up)
6-On/Off block
7-Turn block

The one I'm looking for is the broken bricks, which you'll probably want to change too.
Let me know if you find it, pls.

That was just posted...

Anyway, the breakable brick bounce block sprite is the same as that of the turn block.

This may be a stupid bump but I wanted to tell you that I now had time focusing on this and came around fixing the palette for the ?-blocks bounce sprite:

You're using Black Squirrel's tileset? Sweet!

I was just going to ask who made that tileset.

Sorry for the random critique, but that background looks kinda out of place with the choosen tileset.

I know but this is something I always do in hacks. For me, realistic backgrounds are always the nicest choice for me because backgrounds in the same style looks not that impressive. Sorry.

Anyways, I guess I will edit this thread to my hack's thread because I have some progress already on it I can show of:

New question blocks and coins!

Yoshi coins are now replaced with silver coins. Neat.

I don't have more things so far, I'm doing first the level layout and then add enemies, secrets and such but I give my best at it.

And yes Raccoon Sam, that's Black Squirrels set, I always thought it looks cool.

PS: If somebody could code me a goal point question sphere that triggers the secret exit and where Mario stays in place when he touches it, I would be very thankful.

Edit: Can somebody rename the thread to "Buu-Huu's Hack Thread"?

FYI, I can't agree with Ailure's sentiment. I think the semi-realistic greyscale background vs. the plastic-looking FG and the saturated green with saturated yellow items vs. shades of grey each make awesome-looking contrasts.

Keep it like that by all means if you ask me.
