I'm sad and/or mad.
I've been meaning to buy a mod chip for my PS2 for a while now, and had saved up the extra money for it. When low and behold, when mentioning as much on our school's DC++ hub, another member said that he was looking to sell a DMS4 EZI (no soldering). I said I would look into it later, and time went on, and I looked into it. Finally, I agreed to buy it, forked over $65, and brought the kit home with me. So I took the PS2 apart (I hate unscrewing screws), downloaded a tutorial, and went to connect everything, when low and behold, there's a disconnect. I've got the BIOS and DSP clips, the eject triggers, and the wires: BUT THERE IS NO MOD CHIP! I've been trying to get in touch with this guy all night, and he's not answering anything. I have a feeling that the dip shit pulled a fast one on me. And if he did, that will show something for his intelligence, since it's not smart to do this to someone who lives only two dorms down the road from you and do it in front of his head resident who I work with. If it was an honest mistake, fine, but this is really pissing me off. Not even the newest Yugioh! Abridged episode is cheering me up. This sucks. ____________________ |

Some people try to do cheap stuff like that. If it's seems too good to be true, it probably is. ____________________ "There are 3 types of people in this world: Those who can count and those who can't." |

Not trying to get you to do it, but you should sew! You could possibly get twice as much as you paid for it |

Suing is not the answer to everything. Making a lawsuit is much more work than one may think. ____________________ "There are 3 types of people in this world: Those who can count and those who can't." |

This is getting offtopic! Let's steer it back ontopic!
Anyway, maybe you should have checked what you were buying to make sure everything was there. That's the thing about deals, there are some people who try to cheap you. ____________________ "There are 3 types of people in this world: Those who can count and those who can't." |

A classic example of me cheaping people on deals is Monopoly. I always trade so that what I end up with is better than my opponent. That somewhat relates to what happened here, with $65 and a mod chip being better than what was bought.
A possible solution is to think deals through thoroughly. ____________________ "There are 3 types of people in this world: Those who can count and those who can't." |

Personally, I think Modifcation chips are a waste of time unless you know what you are doing. I'd prefer using something like Swap Magic for PS2 or freeloader for GC.
Anyway, I would have checked if everything was there first and then said there and then if something was missing from the kit. But, trust me this has happened to me also when I brought a Nintendo DS from ebay and ended up with a computer heatsink fan which wasn't funny in my view. ____________________ L.Wares Need any information or help hacking SMW? ask these people via PM: Music & SFX - mattrizzle & blackhole89 addmusic - S.N.N. Meh, at least you weren't buying a Nintendo DS case. I remember seeing that when X-box 360 was released...
Well, my own solution on the problem is avoid buying pig in the bag. Especially if it's with someone you hardly know. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Posted by NSNick No...the difference here is that Monopoply deals are over a long term, whereas this is immediate. ____________________ "There are 3 types of people in this world: Those who can count and those who can't." |

Posted by Ailure I agree, they showed something like that on show we have here in the UK called the Real Hustle. Where they show you what to look out for if you are being scammed and also how they do it as well. ____________________ L.Wares Need any information or help hacking SMW? ask these people via PM: Music & SFX - mattrizzle & blackhole89 addmusic - S.N.N. Er, well... *cough*
It appears that he did have the chip on him, and while he was at fault for not giving it to me, it wasn't on purpose. So while I retain my right to be pissed at him, I acknowledge that he wasn't purposely trying to scam me. So on a side note, I think I might have damaged one of the ribbon cables in the PS2. After installation was finished, I found out that the reset/open switches weren't receiving any power, nor was the disc player. Judging from the fact that the PS2 is receiving power (you can here the faint buzz when you turn it on), it looks like I have a whole other adventure on my hands. ____________________ |
