The principles of evolution apply. Throw a hundred "how do i edt levels??!!?!?!" noobs into a pot and let a bloody battle for recognition commence. The strongest, most willing to and capable of learning will eventually emerge.

The ROM hacking forum's post reply page will get a checkbox with "Does the thread regard Lazy Shell or SMRPG editing in general" that once pushed will scan the post for common noob-talk like 'thx', 'plz', '!1!!', and all that, and if the conditions are met, the poster will be redirected to the Lazy Shell guide/FAQ and have his ability to post topics to ROM hacking removed for one day.

Or something. What I mean is that all effort should be put to the prevention of the so called 'noob-rush'.

No, it should be 'This thread does not regard lazy shell/etc', because otherwise it'd never get used

The other thing you can do is use facepunchstudios' 'smartness' system.

Well, all I am doing right now is familiarizing myself with it so that I can prepare guides for easy (or easier) use. Something this big needs to be well explained.
So basically what you're saying is that once it is released, the board shall be flooded with "how do i edt levels??!!?!?!" threads. =/
No, I wasn't actually hinting at that, but it will indeed be flooded with shit like this. I just wanted to keep that kind of material as minimal as possible with the help of some guides.

As far as the thread options go, the "This thread does not regard lazy shell/etc" idea is completely retarded. The so-called "n00b rush" cannot be stopped. This is what we have moderators for; the old-fashioned way is the best way in this case. Sure, ideas are still welcome to keep the amount of trash pouring in here low, but for now it's best that we do it like in ye olde tymes.

It's actually not that bad when you think about it... when you have a hack come out, you put it in a stickied "Hack Compilation" thread, where only notable hacks get stored, like the way we have it now. Locked threads get ignored and buried, dumbasses get banned. Moderators should be doing the work, not machines, especially since the "n00b rush" is over exaggerated to seem like some kind of impending Armageddon...

Also, elaborate what the "smartness" system is all about. Seems like a good idea, but it's one of those things that only sound good on paper...

Basically, there was too much stupidity from what I gather, so what was implemented was a minimal spellcheck/etc system, with a numeric value of either 1, 0, or below assigned to a post based on the quality of writing and number of spelling mistakes (and I assume with some sort of mechanism to tell when a particular word was -not- a typo but a name), and then added to that users 'smartness'. If your smartness dropped too low, or by too much in one post, it was an automatic ban.

It would work better if it wasn't restricted.

The Level editor is taking a bit to work with, but I'm taking the time to learn it and to accurately explain each aspect of the editor. There's a lot to it, and writing a guide that doesn't overwhelm its reader is SERIOUS BUSINESS. So, I'm gonna take my time and do it right.

Stop back-seat modding and post something worth a damn.

The editor may be 99.9 percent complete, but there could be revisions/bug fixes due to beta testing, guides to write, etc.. The longer it is delayed, the more it's being worked on. Trust me, it's worth waiting for a full and complete product than getting a shitty half-assed piece of crap that is barely functional out the door earlier.

I think this will be a cool editor.

The creator(s) of this editor want their creation to be as perfect as Shigeru Miyamoto would want things to be.

Two examples are Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. These took forever but we were rewarded with a great game in the end.

I'm still a bit curious about the "map" (level) editor. Last time Omega posted about it he said it took him about an hour to create a simple map, but that the "paste" function wasn't working.

With it being corrected, how much can it boost productivity? By the way, I'm wondering how that copy and paste feature woks in an isometric setting.

It seems that a good hack of this game will probably require some team effort.

Well, every RPG is a team effort. Just normal game hacks take years to finish. Look at the best SMW and ALttP hacks. Imagine rewriting an RPG. They've just raised the ante on what you can do with hacked games. The bar's pretty high now for all hackers out there. You're gonna see a lot of people moving about to work together. I hope great games result from this, and not half-assed games not worth a damn.

Patience is a virtue. You expect a rom editor to just pop up next time you come into a forum? Please. What's the rush? It'll take you a couple of years tops to come up with anything decent. Don't be a child and wait for them to finish it.

PS: Horale vato is just a Mexican interjection. Also, cabron loosely translates to asshole. Though it's true meaning is hard to translate into a single word. A cabron is someone whose wife or girlfriend is cheating on him. However, in modern context it just boils down to asshole.
