Read title.

I have found this to be an extremely tough question. Most people would probably choose deaf right away because being blind makes you almost completely unable to move around safely. That is important, of course, but I don't think I would be able to live without music. In my opinion it is a lot easier to feel an emotion from a piece of music than from a picture. Then again, you wouldn't be able to read books. On the other hand, audio books exist. And you could get someone to read aloud...

Well, I dunno. I guess I would go with blindness.

Music isn't about sound, it's tactile.

This is a good question. I pick deaf, because everyone can write things down, and if I'm blind, I wouldn't be able to see anything, like the keyboard or a game I'm playing. If I'm blind, I may not be able to hack anymore...

I'm sure most people at this board wouldn't be able to live without seeing screens

Deaf. Or else fapping would be boring.

I'd prefer being deaf by a narrow margin, for the sake of computing and internets if not everyday convenience. Shooting oneself seems to be the better choice in either case though...

I have to say blind. I could at least have conversations with my friends then. I'd have to find a new line of work, but then I probably would have to anyway if I became deaf, so whatever.

Sign language? Writing things down on paper?

Or are you one of those who actually consider themselves better at verbal than written communication?

You seem surprised. Besides, in most environments, talking is just vastly easier than writing.

I prefer reading/writing over speaking/listening in pretty much every situation; the handful of real-life friends I have all say so as well of themselves. That goes as far as us leading conversations with each other on a shared sheet of paper when idling in classrooms.

I thought of it as a typical thing to go with unsociability, which I, in turn, thought of as a typical thing in this corner of the tubes.

Deaf, I couldn't imagine not seeing anything. Plus I wouldn't be able to do all the graphics work with ROM hacking.
I could really go on without sound... I don't really listen to much music.

Definitely deaf, if I was blind, I wouldn't be able to complete my hack either, so blindness is definitely the worse of the two, then again, I do like to listen to music, so that would definitely be a bummer if I was deaf and unable to hear it.

Deaf, like most people here, I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't see.

Well, some deaf people "listen" to music by feeling the vibrations from the speakers. Dunno if the effect would make up for it though.

That would be a boring way of listening. D:

I probably would prefer to be deaf, but only because my whole life is kinda based around being able to see stuff on a computer monitor.

I would prefer to be deaf, since I would be too dangerous if blind and need to be put in a padded room for my own safety. I could live with eternal silence, just like being a kid again.
