It may not be a big issue for people who already have all the things they need, but it's terrible for someone just starting out, like me. My resources are severely limited, and i'm unable to do much of anything without certain resources which aren't available anymore. In order to compensate for this, it would be nice if someone who has an Instant Messaging program could help those like me, by sharing resources, or as an alternative make a temporary site and upload some key files.
It kind of hurts seeing all of these beautiful SMW hacks while knowing I can't really do anything to make any of my own because i'm lacking resources. I picked a bad time to get into the world of SMW hacking, it seems.  ;
First post, yeah, newbie here... I adapt fast though. ^^ |

No worries, they're going to be replacing smwc with a new site, which is why it's closed.
http://www.nfall.org The tools and such should be coming up within a week, by my own estimate. Note that I'm not at all affiliated with Nightfall, so I may be off. |

From hanging out in the SMWCentral IRC channel, I'm pretty sure the reason SMWC was killed was because of "stupid people" which is, in my opinion, a pretty stupid reason to kill a rather popular site.
Being the SMW dork that I am (read: forum title) I have something that may please some of you. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QO9U37F0 That is from my personal collection. It is a mostly full file database from SMW Central. It has every hack (including a ton of moderated ones that got deleted), all of the custom blocks, all of the tools (Lunar Magic, Blocktool, etc), some of the ExGFX, all of the patches (1 Player only, Classic Fireball, etc), and all of the custom sprites. The only thing I never got around to getting was the custom music since I tend to play Super Mario World with sound turned off anyway. If the file dies let me know and I'll upload it again. I hope this helps some of you out. |

Well, I found out I cant insert music with addmusic. To do so i'd either have to reformat or get a new computer, and I don't really have the resources or patience to do either, and formatting is out of the question anyways since I lack the OS CD.
If anyone knows a way to insert music without involving Java in any way, please enlighten me... And yes, i've pretty much tried everything to resolve the problem, and nothing has worked. *Sigh* |

If you really want to, you could do what a few others have did. Send someone who can use addmusic a clean ROM, and the music you want inserted. Get them to do it, and then they can send it back to you.
It's a pretty redundant situation, but it only takes a couple minutes. I've done it for a few people, and I could do the same for you *shrug* ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. Don't forget to RTFM. |
