I had no holes. My wisdom teeth are fine.

Life is great.

... right?

Last time I went to the dentist in the conviction of having spotted a hole in a tooth, they told me it actually was none.

However, I had one in a tooth way in the rear of my mouth that I couldn't even see.

I never understood why people make such a great fuss out of dentist visits where "things actually have to be done" though...

It's gruesome, that's why.

I actually thought I had a hole this time, too. I guess not.

Also, I rather like dentists. It's nice to know that your teeth are healthy. Of course, people who are bad at brushing them might have another view here.

Edit: The best ad ever appeared at the bottom:

Lol.

I haven't had dental insurance for almost 2 years, now that I finally do, I'm scared to find out the news of my teeth...

Despite having a tendancy to forgot brushing my teeths, they are always perfect according to the dentist.

Funny.

Dentists suck in my opinion, especially the ones that try and be your friend/comfort you through teeth extractions when you don't even need it. (i.e. my old dentist giving me a teddy bear to hold during a tooth extraction ... the fuck.)

Also, wisdom tooth extractions hurt like a asudhas;dabs afterwards

Yeah, I definitely have to agree with you there, I had my wisdom teeth out in November of 2006, they came out easily thankfully, but the bleeding afterward was painful to stop, that it even disgusted me at one point when I coughed out some blood that had turned brown and sticky, definitely one of the worst things that can happen when you get your wisdom teeth out.

'shudders thinking about that dreaded moment'

Lucky for me that was the last time I had a real cavity, I've had plenty in the past, but this one really hit hard to find out about, the first time.

Anyway, for future advice to anyone who has to go through this scary procedure, just endure it as best as you can, the pain does pass with time.

I've been to the dentist basically ever since I could. He kept telling me that my teeth were perfect until the last time I went, where he said that there was a sticky spot. WTF? I think that something was wrong there...

What I hate most with all that teeth stuff is that you don't decide. You can't decide if you have a mouth big enough to contain your *#%@ wisdom teeth, and you don't decide the acidity level of your saliva...

Which means genetics mostly decides if you have to get your teeth extracted and if you are more prone to tooth sentivity or gums sentivity...

If your saliva tends to be more acid, you'll be more prone to tooth decay, but your gums will have their way...
On the other hand, if your saliva is less acid, your teeth will have their way, but your gums will tend to be sensitive...

Of course, there's the whole spectrum between these two, but it's mainly a trade-off. And you can't decide on that trade-off. What you decide is the frequency of brushing, and the food you eat probably have an influence on your teeth to a certain degree. Smoking doesn't help...

Dentists just worry me because I hate pain in general. Check ups are fine and all, when I need teeth out, it just makes me shudder.

It's probably because when I was 10 I had poisonous gums due to a tooth infection, and that hurt as hell (I had 5 different dentist trips to sort it out, the fifth one had to drug me to stop squirming )

I've always liked the dentist. For some reason I'm told I always brush my teeth great even though I don't brush them nearly as often as I should. I've had a few cavities with my baby teeth but instead of injecting Novocaine with a needle they apply some sort of gel onto my gums. I've never had any pain at the dentist.

I haven't had any cavities at all, ever. My family says it's a "new family record". I don't know how that happened, though, considering my family has a history of bad teeth and I don't brush as often as I should.

Someone's layout is making me download "bounce.swf" (it doesn't happen in newreply). One question: WHY? (Flash is horrible and it's even worse that you have it in a layout)

Apparently, they're working on antibodies to prevent dental caries. Wikipedia also says there's a vaccine in the works. That would be great if they made it to the market.

I have a visit to the torture woman my dentist on the 16th. Hopefully I don't suffer too badly as they stab my tongue.

I've had to have a brace, which I ignored the after-removal instructions. Retainers hurt, but my teeth stayed in place. Some of my teeth are still slightly crocked, but it's barely noticeable.
