DD: So it'll work on Win/Linux, but what about Mac?

I'm here, but I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble. Writting NES Hacking related software for Mac is indeed interesting for personal accomplishment and coding experience, but the clientele is ridiculously limited. So is the feedback with it, obviously...

If I have all the necessary raw data, I can do marvels in a short amount of time, assuming I have both the spare time and the motivation...

In all honesty, I envy DahrkDaiz a lot for all the attention and feedback he can get with his editor. Nevertheless, seeing all the good work he's doing, he deserves it...

Nice work.

im looking forward to this.

id like to see this thing do some serious ASM hacks with just a push of a button and some time... but maybe thats impossible and who am I kidding i mean with just a push of a button we could add a new power-up such as Magic Mario (Mario adventure) or a edit where luigi and mario use two seperate GFX and have different abilitys (Mario vs. Luigi)... But who am i Kidding...

Anyway Good Work.

I finally have the drawing coding working at a good speed. All I need to do now is implement sprite editing and then implement handling of the rest of the object sets and it'll be ready for beta testing. Of course, I have a lot left to still add (project manager, map editor, sprite assembly editor, etc), but I'm sure a lot of SMB3 hackers are clamering for this editor.

This is what the general layout will be so far. The left and right panels are dockable and can be moved anywhere.

I remember editing Metroid title screens in pure hex, doing trial and error experiments and finally got it down. However, when I tried doing this with SMB3 I didn't get very far. I know it's very similar, but some things threw me off, like palettes. IIRC, the title screen is built with lines of tiles, each line having 3 bytes that tell everything with the lines; x/y position, and I don't know the third one. Length maybe? Whatever it is, that's as far as I got. I imagine the palettes are a whole different table, each byte defining a 16x16 tile on the title screen. This is a total guess, but whatever.

All I remember was it being a total pain in my ass when editing, and wished that there was an editor for it. Will this one edit title screens?

Title Editor
Cut Scene Editing (King's Castle, Princess's Dungeon etc)
End Credits Editing
Full Text Editing.

Wow, nice to see those options in your editor DahrkDaiz. I might as well put my three Mario 3 hacks on hold until the editor is released. It's good to see this editor in progress cause it's inspiring me to work on my Mario 3 hacks...

I noticed that the Hammer Suit can't slide down slopes when you press down. (At least in Super Mario Advanced 4) Will you add an option to configure which power-ups can slide similar to your flight power-up editor?

I have a hard time editing the airship levels, I'm pretty confident that with your editor, if I want to go down a pipe, a Koopa Kid will be there at whatever level I set the pointer to.

My boyfriend is drooling over this editor, he's a SMB3 fiend lol! ^_~

Erm, no stufid, Airship levels are no different from other levels, they obey pointers. If you want a Koopa kid on the other side, youbetter make sure the enemy pointer it leads to has a koopa kid in it!

Ok so I've started to build the sprite engine. For once, an SMB3 editor that reflects graphics changes on the sprite! Im about a fifth of the way through all the sprite displays (loaded from the rom, as always). Here's a quick screen to show. Those who have hacked SMB3 will no doubt noticed the true ugliness of Bowser in a level without a dark background color. So it goes for trying to be accurate lol

It's easier than overlaying two seperate sprites, at any rate.

I'm looking at you, Mega Man series and SMB2.

Ok, Im going to need beta testers soon. If you're interested please PM and tell me why you'd like to beta test. Requirements for beta tester are:

Must have been hacking for at least 1 year
Must have done some SMB3 hacking, even if it's simple tinkering

I should have the initial beta released within a couple of weeks.

I have been hacking. But did not release most of my projects (due to lost work during 2004-2007 and Harddrive Crashes that also contains some notes and unretrivable info.)

I have lost, But can remake these (and possibly some other) Succesful SMB3 hacks:

*SMB1 style Player Patch
(Accurate Standing Frame Implented, Just like SMB1),

* SMB1 styled Koopa patch

* and the 16x16 Coin from the Question/Brick Block
(Replaces Regular Question/Brick Block Coin)

All of those were made possible by using FCEUXD(SP) tracer

And About the BetaTesting:

The reason why is just to be helpful for once. I can try to learn a little more with your ''WIP'' Sprite editing stuff once it happens to be implented. I already know a little bit, if not some of the knowlage on how a few-to-most SMB3 sprites work. And for the sake of this project. I have known some sprite graphic/palette addresses and stuff.

Umm, did you miss the part where he said "PM"? Here, let me show you how.

Oh right, you can't see my PMs.
