Okay, it hasn't been verified yet that this actually works with Wii games, but I can't see why it shouldn't.
Simply put in a game disc made for your region, enter the Game start channel, then use the wiimote to put the cursor on he Start button. Now press eject on the console, then quickly press A on the Wiimote to boot the game, then put in the foreign game. May take a couple of tries, but it should work. I've tested it myself with GC games, and I'll try one of my american Wii games the next time I'm visiting a friend with a PAL Wii (which will most likely be this thursday). Yay.

Apparently it doesn't but that's because it takes the Wii a few seconds to switch to GameCube mode, which leaves the opening.

The Wii was... easily modded, surprisingly.

All the more reason to get a Wii...

The reasons just keep adding up.

Wrong. All they did was change the backdoor password to lowercase and move the mod chip space somewhere else on the motherboard. It is almost identical to the Gamecube =\

Hey, that's cool. Means I don't need to use my freeloader for GCN games on my Wii.

Yeah, tested it finally (owning my first PAL-Game for gamecube) but it doesn't play my Japanese games, I just get a black screen.

Apparently there was one more change: you can't use the drive debug command in software anymore. Thus, you can't softmod it by running GCN homebrew; you need a chip, period.
