This is the hack that I've dropped a few screens and such of here.

Features:
Ripped ExGFX
Custom ExGFX
Ported Music
Custom Sprites
Custom Blocks

Features in progress:
SM64 Caps
HDMA

Don't worry, all status bar palette errors have been fixed.
Most screens are slightly outdated.

Also:
Level 1-1 Youtube Video
Level 2-1 Youtube Video

Please give me all the constructive criticism you got!

These screenshots all look very good; I especially like how you manage to combine the official graphics with your own.

The BGM in level 2-1 seems to not fit the setting though; I'd rather be thinking of either a title screen or a mini game or puzzle level of sorts when hearing it.

I'm assuming hoping you mean 1-1, because I thought the 2-1 music fit pretty well. Its from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time -- the Thwomp Volcano theme. I was going for a rocky theme.

As for 1-1, thats just placeholder music.

Otherwise it looks pretty awesome but I don't like the Overworld.. There's no water ponds or lakes in there.. Just the ocean below. Add some waterfall coming from the very top ledges to a pond on the middle ledge and so on.

EDIT: Just saw the Youtube vids. Your level design is beyond awesome!

Heh, that's the very first version I've made of the OW. Its always under construction. I'll probably add some water eventually.

Heh, thanks.

@Dark bob-omb: Hopefully it'll all go well. I hope for it to be pretty similar.

Don't get me wrong, the song itself is nice... I just think it really doesn't fit the level at all. And yeah, I meant the second one.

As for those screws... any chance of seeing them in action, like in a video?

I would say that both songs feel kinda out of place. Though the placeholder music is nice, but I dunno where it would fit to a platform game. It's the rainbow theme from one of the Mario Kart games right?

I like that overworld. It reminds me about snake rattle n roll and it's mountain-climbing.

Whip out your spc player, I want an opinion on this song: Clicky!
Would that be a good theme for the first level? Or maybe it would be a good upbeat sky theme...

It is a bit too excited for a plain level theme in my opinion... would go better with some kind of midstage confrontation or miniboss.

It's from Kirby Superstar Blackhole89. It's used for underground/mine stages. If I recall some of the mine stages in Kirby Superstar are fast levels.

He, just throwing it out there.

Story:
Spoiler:
The Staff of Dreams allows the user to make all their dreams cone true. Unfortunately, the staff has limited power and can only be at full power with the presence of a pure soul, and seven star shards. Once Bowser broke into the Temple of Reality (Pending name), where the Staff of Dreams is located, he opened a portal to another dimension to build up a huge army. He kidnapped Peach so that he had a pure soul to use, and he kept the 7 star shards he gathered under guard across the kingdom, so he'd have enough power to open a large portal when the invasion was ready. Of course, when Mario starts his adventure, he only knows that Bowser has once again captured Princess Peach and is going to rescue her.

Some dynamic sprites:

Pictured here is the spinning log from YI, and a rolling chomp from Super Mario Galaxy.

Although they look somewhat crappy in a screen, they look much better animated.

Probably would look better on a video indeed. The rotating sprites in YI looks neat, but rather ugly when sitting still... I guess the case would be the same here.

New level.

Lower Blue River
It's a river level. BTW, I've added a river to the OW.
