I thought about it, since it appeared in several hacks... but problem is that a air meter would prevent underwater stages. Or at least make them more frustrating.

Then, it probably works well as long there's a item to breath with, like you said. I can't imagine having too many underwater stages in this hack anyway...

I messed with sprite tool a little and made a "board moron goomba" sprite (which tries to emulate the behaviour of a monster that clearly didn't read the FAQ of SMW, walking unsteadily and bumping into things all the time)

Graphics are still flawed, so is collision detection. The code is shit. Once I get better at the whole sprite thing, I can clean it up/fix it, but this is practically the first thing I coded with it...

Haha, I love that sprite.

Now if that fire works sound could be removed after the hit, it would be awesome.

Good.

Can you make sprites of any of the following?
- edits of normal SMW enemies to adapt to various board stereotypes (morons, enforcer adminators, spamming douchebags, what-not)
- possibly original representations of those
- prominent personalities from the board
- general things typical of ... the internet

I'm down for music (blackhole told me to post here).

What are you all looking for, exactly? So I have an idea what to write. (no, I didn't really look through the rest of the thread comprehensively, so if that's been covered, sorry) Thanks

Music that would fit to a Mario game?

It dosen't have to be in the SMW style, mind you.

It would be good to hear about any progress... so far, we are still missing lots and lots of in-tower/"castle tileset" levels, not to mention the cave ones.

(For Outer Wall, I'm still waiting for smwedit converting that BG, unless he already did and I missed it...)

Think I can help out with this hack? I'm quite good at arranging graphics, custom GFX, ExGFX porting and level design. If you need a helping hand, just tell me.

Sure. Show off what you can do, and we gladly accept anything you contribute into this project.

We should probably put up a wanted page on the wiki... when it's up again. Which it will be quite soon.

Very nice. Could you make some exclusive graphics/BGs for this project?

I could try it out. This'll give me a nice side project while my friend A Yoshi is working on our team hack A Yoshi: QFTGE. What do you think of a digitized background that resembles something like a computer chip or a hard drive?

That could work.

Could always give it a somewhat virtual world looks, with glitches here and there. Hell, I thought about having glitch levels... but with custom graphics for glitches so it actually looks like something and isn't really random garbage.

I could make some sprite GFX if you'd like.

Example:

I made a giant Blurp to accompany a sprite I made for it.

I can also make higher detail graphics if you'd like those.

Of course, it helps me a lot when I have reference.

Edit:
I think it'd be neat to have a level/world in grayscale to simulate "banland."

I like both the large fish and the more detailed graphics a lot (sparing Mario... I think the detailed version looks somehow... too young, almost as if it was a 10 year old version of the plumbing protagonist).

Banland sounds like a good idea to me... as for me, I'd suggest the "global" overworld to be presented as a floating island of sorts, standing for the board as a whole. The outside, then, would represent the rest of the internet (beyond "banland", we totally need to make that as a special world).

Heh, the only graphics I made there was that larger fish, the rest were from the open source hack SMW Redrawn, by Icegoom.

I can well enough match it's graphical style though, that is, as far as sprite GFX go.

That huge Blurps is really awesome..! Makes me wonder why nobody ever does custom underwater enemies.

Also post #4000 in the SMW Hacking forum.

Heh, the higher detailed graphics don't look like SNES-style pixel art but more like GBA style. xD

Underwater levels as far I recall, isn't too popular in first place. None of the ones in SMW is particular memorable, although a few in SMB3 is...

Heh, Banland. Should probably be done in a tongue-in-cheek manner, like the underworld in Super Paper Mario.
