Wiki for the project.

Join our IRC channel #ToS at irc.kafuka.org

So yeah, there's been talk about this before in IRC, but I think it's about time it gets started.

Basically, it's a huge group hack that anyone can join. Think of like how a Wiki works, with some bureaucracy to keep the crap away.

We would need:
People who do the overworld (probably not too many, single person might suffice)
People working with graphics
People working with assembly hacks
People working with the music
People who contribute with levels

There's really no story at this point. We probably just go for something randomly lame.

And before you think this won't ever finish, yes it will. 2ch have pulled this off successfully. I make sure we will too, but we also need to plan it before getting to work.

I might have mentioned this before, but yeah, you can generally count me in. I can contribute some levels and probably look into the music/asmery.

For a start, it might be good (apart from collecting general ideas) to assemble some kind of index of needed levels by type; those could then be contributed in Lunar Magic's .mwl format.

Seems easy enough to put together. I'll get started on the OW, then.

Shouldn't we split the overworld into submaps first and determine which kind of level we put where?

Heh, I just don't want to wind up with too many indoors levels now. Then, I could imagine parts of the tower being a giant glass house so maybe. My original thoughts was something about having the tower being the last world, than being the dominant part of the game.

And yes, I would really focus on levels first.

I may not know the exact worlds, but I don't see why that should be able to stop me from designing the basic framework of the OW

Go ahead, I guess, it's always possible to shuffle things around later... right now, the main things we need, I suppose, are an "outside" overworld, an underworld, several in-tower worlds and a pinnacle of the tower one. Always could give the different tower floors different themes.

Of course, it would be interesting to make a fully linearized/level-based hack without overworld for once too, but I suppose this should be easier to organize...

Sign me up for ASM and co-game designer (i.e. coming up with plot, designing the basic outline of the game, etc.).

I guess I should set up a Wiki somewhere really soon for this. Might be a good way getting the ideas sketched down. And also a good way of putting up levels for review as well...

And wouldn't it be rather tricky for longterm projects as well? Moonedit is better for quick brainstorming... <<

If it ever gets implemented.
Edit: Also, I'll make a level or two I suppose. Just give me a theme to use.

I also set up a file on the moonedit server (see sticky in ROM hacking).

File name is self-explaining; password is "notashovel" without the quotation marks.

Quite busy session in moonedit right now, although we could do with a few more people.

And people, please register a account on the wiki before editing so I know who did what. XD
