So hey, why?

Just recently, whenever I try to save a picture using that almighty (self proclaimed, by you) Firefox, it tries to save the actual page. That is, an html document. Even if it's the direct url to the picture it still does this.

Fix my computer please.

So what HTML page does it save when you open the direct URL of the picture?

I don't know.

I just tried to do it with the logo up top there and it works now. What the hell, that was weird.

EDIT: This used to happen to me in IE too. Except it would try to save everything as a bmp.

I had FF break down on me earlier today when I ran out of C: space while it was forcefully patching to 2.0.0.9...
...but yeah, it would have been interesting to know which HTML page you wound up with when you saved a picture from a direct URL.

When I tried to open one, it was nothing but a bunch of gibberish text. Maybe it saved the actual picture as an html file. I don't know.

Some sites have really fucking retarded coding, where "image.php?f=lol.jpg" is both the URL of the HTML page it's displayed on, and the image itself; it decides which one to serve depending on the referrer (or lack thereof). This often makes saving such images more difficult.

Just change the extension to the proper one and it should work.

This sounds like the most logical explanation.

This sounds like the most logical explanation.

I forgot to add: In such cases, the directory the image is in is often hidden (and/or outside the wwwroot), so you can't guess the URL of just the image, or its permissions forbid you from viewing it directly. A combination of both is often used in such cases.

You know, my extreme Firefox fanboys days are over long time ago Legion. Get with the times.

...although I do still use it. Easily one of the most used applications, but hey almost everything is on the web nowadays.

I'm really curious about the site in question you're having problems with.

That's not even what I was referring to!

But as for the site, er, all of them?

It's fixed now though.
