I woke up this morning to find that my computer had mysteriously restarted itself in the middle of the night without my consent. When I logged on, I got a message saying that automatic updates have been applied and my computer was restarted.

I was puzzled, since I have my update settings configured to "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them." I went to the automatic update settings this morning, and all the options were disabled and "Automatic (recommended)" appears to be selected.

Does anyone have any clue as to how I could disable automatic updates again?

(On XP Professional if that matters)

Edit: Well, I just disabled the Automatic Update service, but the automatic update options window looks the same. I guess I'll have to see what happens...

Looks fine in System properties for me (Right click on my computer, select propeties and select the automatic uppdates tab).

Heh, I have it on automatic downloading... but not installing. I hate having the computer restart without me knowing. :/
