So much history and so many mysteries with Board 2.
It's a shame that it's not as active as it was years ago.
Though I guess when everyone ages, more commitments with everyday life take over, and/or people just move on.

True. And the fact there's Kafuka at 'board.' doesn't really help. However I knew Board 2 slightly longer than Kafuka.

Just put in a random forum number, about 1/10 of the time it's a staff forum.

I registered at Kafuka years ago, but never posted.
Back then, there seemed to be more activity there too, but I still personally feel that there's more ROM hacking related activity going on here at Board 2, which is what I've always been the most interested in anyway.
Most of the people who used to be here at Board 2 mainly for "general chat" would not really discuss anything that I was personally interested or knowledgeable in, so I never had any real opportunities to post outside of ROM hacking.
There used to be a Debate section, accessible through forum ID 10, but I never cared for debating, either.
Forum Games used to be accessible through forum ID 12. It was taken away, I believe because it was reasoned that it was more a post count increasing technique; but ironically, it did get quite a bit of activity going while the people who used it were still around, but then it was inactive for quite a while before it was just taken down.
I reckon that it would generate activity again if people like you and me were posting regularly, though.

1: I registered at Kafuka about a year ago, and didn't post for a while, posted a bit, left, then started rapidly posting before that spammer got me banned.

2: Again board2 is more interesting, Kafuka is barely active much (except for the big generic threads). Board 2 seems to have more variety in activity lately.

3: -

4: -

5: It should return, that one, but with a new rule: no stupid obvious postcount++ posts in games. So games like 1-Letter Swap, Give the next user an item and Corrupt-A-Wish can stay as long as nobody does something blatantly rubbish (e.g. for 1-Letter Swap, saying 'Ur... [word]' would be a stupid post).

6: I did notice a bit of activity increase lately as previously stated before. And you started posting in the 'lost' forums.

Yeah. There's always been something about Board 2 for me that makes it stand out over the other message boards. Sure, I found this one first, and I missed the previous versions of the board that came before it, but it's always felt like the place that I prefer to come to.

Back when I didn't post here, there were more people around, and I didn't feel like it was my place to join in the 'lost' forums. I guess considering I'm one of the few older members still around, I might as well.

Same, lol. Board 2 is established so people do come here sometimes to ask things and such, so probably explains it.

And the fact it seems a simple place to be (and not moderated by dictatorish people). By that, it's small but seems to cover some ground even if new forums exist about the same thing.

Yeah. The more relaxed feeling is welcoming in contrast to some other message boards, where staff generally isn't as understanding sometimes.

I recall dealing with personal situations where there are the high school outcasts who run boards in staff positions and abuse their power, because they feel that it's the only form of control they have in their life.

In fact, the only real issue I ever had with any staff on Board 2 was when Stark was still around here. I wished them well in a topic, and they said I was spamming, even though the whole idea behind their topic was just posting randomly about how they couldn't sleep or something. Then with their staff power, they messed with my profile settings. It's not like I asked for that or anything.

Nonetheless, I still always try my best to treat everyone with respect and consideration, and hope for the best for them.

Our rules are pretty laid back around here because it is now such a small community. There's no point just going out banning someone when you can instead solve it via much more civil means. Of course there are still problems though, like when the accounts got stolen recently (don't worry, we think it was due to them loosing their passwords elsewhere, not here) and that guy who has been spamming his hacks or something recently and has been refusing to respond to any PMs. Other than that though, as long as you don't spam or break major rules we'll try to ensure you can stay here and keep posting.

I can see that.

How is wishing someone well 'spam'? True, it can be done via PMs, but still, seems a bit stupid.

I wouldn't spam board2 with rubbish anyway, though, . It's good to go to a laid-back community over popular boards (usually those that run the idiotic phpBB).

What do you mean by wishing someone well? I'm talking about that one guy who keeps making minor updates or something and creating brand new threads with on info.

Replying to Quick Curly, apparantly wished Stark well for something and it was deemed spam, ages ago.

And that guy (the spambottish geezer) seems to be a rereg of Kostya03. They post in the same style and also spammed the same hack.

Well, I wasn't trying to bring up the past, since it's long done and over with anyway, but since in so many words, it was asked about, I went back and found that the original topic is in a restricted forum, so it was moved from the section it was started in all those years ago.

Posts referencing it are viewable in the KCS April '09 topic in the Display Case. Members were rewarded points for the posts that they were making.

Stark's thread was apparently something not to be taken seriously, but I did, and for that reason, they said that I was disqualified for spamming. Though, as one can see if they look back through my posts before #280, I was mostly discussing ROM hacking with NutheadBros. So, I likely made more useful board posts than they did that day, but because they were in a staff position, they felt that their opinion was more just and accurate. The part about them saying "Truth be told I was actually pretty close to disqualifying myself for much the same reasons as I disqualified you" was likely just for show, but the fact is they still hadn't, suggesting they perceived me as a member not on an equal level around here, which is how you should never regard members on a message board that you are running. See, even when we have actual spamming accounts on here, the excellent, caring staff around here are still fair and give multiple chances if there's even a slight chance that the member might just be unfamiliar with normal board etiquette. In this past case, it was at least one issue that Stark specifically seemed to have with me, and perceived a situation differently than how I had intended it. Thanks to blackhole89 for sticking up for me, and acknowledging my true intentions, the determination was reversed, but it seemed like Stark still would have preferred for it to have gone their way. Like I mentioned earlier and in that very topic, they went and messed with my profile settings afterwards, so it's pretty safe to say that they weren't the victim in the situation.

Again, I am definitely not trying to start or bring any negative feelings back from a situation that happened over 6 years ago. I was only referring to what the whole "wishing someone well" point was about. The only reason it even came up at all was because I was establishing how all the staff members do what is best for the board as a whole and deserve to be in the positions that they are in, and generally, a member won't have a problem as long as they have positive intentions. The only problem I ever had was when someone didn't take the time to consider my point of view and only immediately concluded that I had to be the one who was wrong and not them. Sure, I probably misunderstood their thread, and therefore was probably "off-topic", if you really want to go that far; but if their thread wasn't even about them seriously not being able to get sleep, then what was the point of even starting it, besides most likely just looking for attention? I'm sorry, but I really don't even remember the posts word-for-word. I only remember the general details, and the main factor of me instantly being labelled the bad guy.

Anyway, I obviously wasn't able to see the specific day-to-day contributions of each staff member overall, so for all I know, Stark could have very well been a decent administrator. However, that still doesn't change that they misused their power and position on occasion, and that there are some people who deserve their staff positions, like the great team that the board has now, and other people who unfortunately might not.

I remember from the on-and-off posting sprees from the outside members who would come around and accuse the current staff of not doing anything to help the board, but I just wanted to say that that's hardly true. They keep it running. They keep it moderated, when it has to be. If there aren't immediate tasks that need to be handled for some time, I would say that that's a good thing, and establishes that staff is on top of things. Not that we need less or more staff like what has been said, or that the board should be archived.

Sorry for the longer post, too. Hopefully that helps to explain what I meant though, since the incident was before both of you registered.
It probably was better if I didn't say anything at all though, much like it would have probably been better if I had never posted in that thread years ago.

To kind of get things back on track to the super secret party, I only just noticed that ninjablooper and I are both from Earth. I wonder if I've seen you around!

Don't worry, I doubt anyone has bitter feelings from an incident years ago.

Also Earth is a pretty large place, but we still could've crossed paths lol.

Maybe...

Also I've stolen the lost threads and other lost threads and put them on my own website, because I like the idea of secret forums.

Why is the awesome white hole not able to post threads in?
