Sigh... we're only in the preseason and we already have a cheap shot...

looks like the hit that Armstrong from Pittsburgh put on someone from last year. Almost exactly. Although I don't remember Armstrong leaving his feet. I think it was a fairly cheap hit and the young kid should be suspended for a short time to hopefully get the point across that hits that high just aren't allowed. The hit could have been done in such a way as to not have caused that kind of injury.

Damn. I watched the hit on Youtube...what the hell was he thinking? He kinda looked like a missile all the way till he jumped and shouldered McAmmond on the face. All I can say is McAmmond just got fucking owned. O_o

yeah well, sounds like McAmmond will be okay. At least that is what I remember hearing yesterday.

I really hope that they nail this guy to the wall for this. I heard he was smiling and laughing about it on his way off the ice. That's just not right. I'm hoping for a suspension of 20 games or more at least.

And that's just what the NHL did.

not that he's ever going to play now.

He can only serve those games in the NHL but he's probably not going to be playing this year.

either he's going to be so damn good that they will call him up just so he can serve the 20 games and then play or Philadelphia will be such a bad team again that they might as well call him up to serve the suspension so that they can use him next season.

But it's not likely that they will want to waste roster and salary cap space on this guy just for the sake of maybe playing him when they aren't sure if he'll be a big help or not.

I am impressed that I got the number of games right on the suspension

well, it doesn't really look like Toskola is the solution for the Leafs. 7-1 pummeling tonight against Carolina.

And now the Flyers' Jesse Boulerice cross checks the Canucks' Ryan Kesler IN THE NECK

I think they're taking their 40th anniversary a little too seriously...

really not a surprise.

It was a cheap shot. All he had to do was cross check in the chest and the punch in the face and they would have been fighting. Instead he knocked Kesler out and got suspended.

Philly may have a better team than last year but that won't matter if they keep losing player to 20+ game suspensions.

Yeah, that was definately pretty obvious..do players not realize their mistakes before they do them? Does anyone have ANY self control anymore?

How about the 5-0-0 Minnesota Wild..I wonder how long they'll keep this up..

My Red Wings seem to be doing fairly well lately..a bit rough around the edges but they seem to have a pretty good team. I can't explain how they blew 2 leads against Chicago in the 2 games they played them..oh well..a mistake here and there is alright.

I still find it funny how bad our Stanley Cup Champions are doing this year.

must be too early to catch any video on that cause so far I haven't been able to find anything to see how the hit actually happened.

I really hope the league fines the team for this. I realize it's not the teams fault exactly but this is the third(?) incident the flyers have been involved in this season so far....

Two 25 game suspensions already for the Flyers for dangerous hits. Could this be the third suspension? Hell..have they even played 10 games this season? O_o

I wonder if this would be some kind of team and/or league record if this third player gets suspended too...

Jones gets 2 games.

I guess the league believed that the hit was not done maliciously.

And I just watched the replay and the hit in normal speed from a far out angle doesn't look bad at all. When the close up shot shows how his back and neck and face look against the boards it looks worse.

I agree though, the hit did not appear to have any intent to injure. The 2 games is fair to me.

Yeah..that seems fair.

So..Detroit loses Hasek due to a hip injury..and the replacement Osgood goes 7-0-0. I'm happy with the way the Wings are playing..especially Osgood.

Nice to see the all the teams in the Central get extra competitive this year (except Nashville). The teams out here have been playing total crap here in the Pacific, and only recently have the Ducks shown life. Saw this play the other night during the last game and I still can't believe it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfuN0mUDYdI

I really don't how a fan could be too disappointed with the Red Wings over the last 15 years, they've had the best run organisation in the league for well over a decade, well except maybe when Dave Lewis was coaching. But even then, Detroit was still a top seeded team.

During last nights Sabres\Panthers game, Richard Zednik of the Panthers got a cut on his neck after being struck by the skate blade of teammate Olli Jokinen in the third period.
