(19 is the sucky age: not 18, yet not 20 or 21. Jinsei's comment kinda fits, you're definitely not a child, yet it's hard to say you're still a "teenager", and not quite an adult either)

In the state of Virginia, 19 is the age in which if you don't have a driver's license, you can just take the road skills test rather than going through the driver's education program. So it's not all bad.
