Quit World of Warcraft. Then use your newly found spare time in order to learn how to communicate properly in English.

I used to have the same problem with RO, though in my case I played so much until I hit a wall and instead got very bored with it.

I'm not sure how long you have played.

sell your characters and end your subscription

seriously, what steps have you taken to quit?

edit: actually I have no idea if level 70 is worth selling or what but barring that just delete them

You haven't tried your best if you still have your subscription. If you don't do that you'll see you lose money and go "I should play this game oO since I'm paying for it still" and that gets you nowhere.

Anyway, this game doesn't interest me. I don't really care for it. Not to mention those that I know that play the game... well, its affected their lives too greatly. Especially when they start relating WoW to other things (I still dunno how my brother sees dodging bullets in Touhou "exactly the same as WoW".).

I wonder how well it would work with a MMO where the subscription payments depends on how much you play. Money wouldn't be wasted in a such system if you didn't play for a whole month, then people with no lives would suffer when they play all the day.

I actully started out by selling my computer... but i couldn't live without one so i bought a new one after a few month (and yes picked up where i left in wow aswell) After that i sold wow, but several of my friends irl wanted me back... so i ended up buying the game again. You can get around 250-500 usd for a lvl 70 with decent gear, but it's ofc not allowed to sell any characters so i would never do that.

250 bucks?

How many hours of playing does it take to get a level 70? If it takes less than ~35 hours of solid playing, you could score the rough equivalent of a 6.50$/hr job (more if you could sell for more than 250 dollars)

Of course, based on my experiences in Tibia, it takes like 500 months to get to level 2 if you know the good spots, so

(yes, that was a gross exaggeration)

but if you're really wanting to quit wow altogether, who cares if it's allowed or not?

Had a trial account (10 days), but uninstalled after getting to level 7, like any other game of that kind previously.
Though the help for beginners game-wise is really nice, I never got too interested in MMORPGs. I also got Guild Wars shortly after release, since it didn't include payments and allows me to play whenever I think (as long as the servers are running, of course), but even with that ... after some days it got very boring.

And spending ... months just for virtual gear, money and stuff just isn't anything for me, or worth doing the same again and again. And you'll even pay for that, although I think that payments are better to keep some more mature players (that doesn't seem to apply to WoW, since many parents play for their your children, some of these don't know how to behave normally ... also including older ones too).

On the other hand I am quite happy that these online games don't interest me (yet) ... just to think being really dependent of one game ("must play") would scare me.

If I want something like this, I always can play offline single player RPGs, or play a hack and slay like Diablo ...
After years you can reload or simply look at your old game saves, and if I want to play something with friends I know, I call them. There is always Netplay in ZBattle, Hamachi and similar things like a nice game of HoMM 3

I'm already addicted to Dofus, kicking ass on it and I am too scared to try World of Warcraft because I may end up losing my life to addiction. MMORPGs are like illegal drugs. Some of the fairly decent ones are like weed, you can get addicted but go cold-turkey. WoW is pretty much the crack of MMORPGs. If you touch it, you'll get addicted and won't stop unless you go to re-hab.

It uselly takes me around a month to go from lvl 1-70 (but yeah, you need to play alot then) and a lvl 70 with basic gear won't get you that money, you need to spend alot more time as lvl 70 to gear up before you can get that money

btw i think i have a lvl 25 in tibia ^^ haven't played that game in years tho...

It actully took me a week before i got hooked, i didn't really get it at first.... Guild Wars is actully a game i would like to try, but i haven't had the time to buy it yet (or something) ^^ and for the same reason as you bought it, no monthly cost (big bonus)

There is actully alot of mature players in wow, the guild i joined a few days ago req you to be 25+ with is pretty nice.

i have played Diablo for 6 years or something now, not offline tho... i still keep most of my accounts active online (yup i do like blizzards games, all of them)

A loss of life is just one of the biproducts of trying to be one of the highest levels on a fairly old game. I don't feel comfortable being a newb so I stick to familiar grounds to keep my dignity intact. Besides, my home computer is pretty much dead now and I cannot possibly play any computer games until I get a new computer or fix my old one.
