Where you anticipate a sequel and it turns out much worse than the older version of the game... Anyone have any reviews?

House of the Dead 4
(before; House of the Dead 1 and 2)
-The previous House of the Dead games provided some gritty zombie-shooting action, fast gameplay and sadistic bosses. Chunks of blood flew everywhere and there was enough gore to satisfy a guy looking for a bloody rail-shooter. House of the Dead 1 and 2 were by far the best in the series.

(after; House of the Dead 3 and 4)
-The story seems to perpetuate more around chronology than horrifying zombies. I admit, that the action on the 3rd HOTD was adequate but where the HELL did the horror go!? When House of the Dead 4 turns up, it turns into a sci-fi shooter with NO BLOOD! It's like eating a hamburger without a beef patty in it. Where's the beef!? Zombies aren't supposed to look pretty and explode in a cloud of fairy-dust when they die. And if I wanted something pretty in a game, I wouldn't be playing House of the Dead. The story has turned into some time-travel bullshit and defeated the purpose of a horror-shooter. Big fail.

Final Fight Streetwise
(before; Final Fight 1-3)
-2d, kickass beat'em ups. Old-school gamers recognize this.

(after; Streetwise)
-Why do the graphics suck so bad? Why is everything gangsta and urbanized? What the hell happened to Final Fight!? All for the sake of marketing, Capcom seemed more concerned about appealing the urban culture and not disgracing itself in front of the people who grew up to love the series. It's a complete turd.

Warhawk - I don't have a Ps3 myself, but when I heard that this game would only have online content, I was a bit disappointed.

Final Fantasy XII - Now, its not that bad of a game, but it was so over hyped, that I think it killed the game a little inside. I normally finish any RPG that I started (save for a few that I didn't like), but after a while, I just didn't play it anymore and went on to something else.

Any new Sonic game - Yes, he needs to stay 2D, screw new graphics, and if you dare to make a new sonic game that is 3D, take some pointers from the old school games, please!!

Dynasty Warriors 4.
Horrible compared to 3. Limited Item Equips, a moronic weapon Exp. system, and the fact that mere infantry and Privates make you flinch really kills the game.
Also, English Voices suck.

I realize it isn't a sequel of any kind, but Final Fantasy VII is a disappointment to me.

Story-wise, it simply was not fun at all; seemingly endless chasing of a single entity from place to place and uninteresting plot twists that were not executed properly. Music was not comparable to Uematsu's other scores, the gameplay was actually too deep for a normal playthrough (the game is much too easy if you use your brain with the materia system), and most of all, the characters were dry and poorly constructed. Not to mention, parts of the game are downright stupid (think Wall Market and that stupid crossdressing quest.) It's average at best, but fans of the series preach of it as if it were a godsend.

Oh, almost forgot the horrible script that a guy like me could've written given a few hours on a weekend except with less grammatical/spelling mistakes. THIS GUY ARE SICK

Wow. Well stated.

And on Dynasty Warriors 4, I stopped playing after the third installment, so I'm glad that I didn't miss much. Dynasty Warriors Gundam anyone?

Like sonic genesis, right?

I consider Secret of Evermore a sequel engine-wise to secret of mana, and that was one of the most dissapointing games I've bought. I can't think of many others aside from that.

From what I can tell, the Final Fight games were a bit of the stereotyping of what most westerm/american street life is like (of course overblown). I can only guess it is "gangsta" because that is what street life here is seen as in japan.

But yeah, it just doesn't cut it. I want to see Haggar breaking some mohawked punk.

Monkey Ball Adventure. I was hoping Sega'd doo well with this like they did with Sonic Adventure. At least the Wii game was good.

Mario & Luigi Partners in Time,

I played Superstar Saga to death, everything was fresh and new for me, had good graphics, great music and sounds, but the sequel for DS, I didn't like the inclusion of the babies, and the sound was nothing new or worth listening too (in comparison with Superstar Saga).

Super Mario World

I played Super Mario Bros. 3 back then a lot, and I mean a lot. Had nice physics, complicated scrolling levels, interesting enemies, the koopalings and of course the suits.
Super Mario World had Yoshi. No Suits, not so nice koopalings, for me stupid boss fights, no 'reserve' and the music was inferior, just the same tune differently mixed up.

Nowadays I like Super Mario World, learned to love it. But Super Mario Bros. 3 is my personal gem of 2D Jump 'n Runs!

Donkey Kong Country 3

Well, DKC is one of my favorite games ever. I remember we had it back in the day (I was only like 6 ) Anyways, then i played DKC 2 and it was awesome as well, the same greatness of DKC, but more of a 'spooky/dark' theme, which was great. Then when i found emulation , i played them in order, and the 3rd one sucks so horribly compared to it's predecessors. Baby what's his face is fuckin gay, and it seemed too childish and was just plain retarded imo. It was a huge letdown to me.

Too damned true.

cory#####: You must not have played more than the suckiest level of the game then. DKC3 was awesome.

Kirby: Squeak Squad
For one, the game was too easy. I beat the game 100% in 3 days without even having to use a walkthrough! If I remember correctly, Kirby Super Star took me a few years(first, I missing a few treasures on The Great Cave Offensive, then I couldn't make it through the Arena).

Secondly, I was disappointed with how the item-combining thing worked. A grand total of three combined abilities exist in the game(the other combos give you random abilities), and they're all swords. I would have liked to have seen something more like Kirby 64.

Then again, I still haven't mentioned that the Kirby series has been in a downward spiral since Mr. Sakurai left HAL...

EDIT:
@ Skreeny: Whoops, I forgot about those bombs, and I didn't even know about the Sleep+Sleep combo.

6, actually. The three swords, two bombs (ice and spark) and you can combine sleep+sleep to get Ghost once you have the medal.

Of course, Ghost is available other ways, but...

I'm not going to argue that it wasn't a disappointing game, of course. It was pretty fun, but way too short and easy. Tornado, of course, was complete cheese against the bosses, too.

Hmm.. dissapointments...

Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis (GBA)
That game was so horribly bad...

I would say Sonic 360, but I haven't played it.
I don't want to believe the Sonic franchise is dead

And I for one, like the new VAs for Sonic & co. Mainly because I plainly didn't like the SA and SA2 VA's, and the mismatched lipsynching made it look so poorly done (I know it's a DC game... ) I was 11 at the time

Shadow from SA2 honestly sounds like an emo Anakin Skywalker

Other dissapointment:
Sonic Advance 3
The whole dual character thing threw me off

Yoshi's Story
What would be a great sequel to Yoshi's Island was ruined by the too-easy gameplay and final boss. Collecting fruit instead of actually completing levels is bad.

Donkey Konga/2
A poor man's DDR with cheap plastic bongos. Yipee.

Wario Ware Touched!
Weakest installment of the series. It had the least amount of micros and they were too similar from within a specific genre.

Seconded, definitely... when I first heard of it, I actually considered buying it, since my Sonic 1 cartridge is busted... I quickly changed my mind when news of the actual game started to leak out.

Star Fox Command was pretty disappointingly as well, I expected a lot more from it than I got.
