I always found Hunter Ing to be annoying, too. But the whole "Annihilator Beam into the Light Beacon" dealie made short work of them.

I'm saying if you didn't just blindly fire at them, they'd quickly charge you [...]

The issue is that you're implying I blindly fired at them. I stopped doing that when I noticed they were dodging my missiles. A charged shot will stun them for a second or two, which gives you time to charge up another shot. I quickly found an effective way to dispatch them. Joy.

The topic at hand is that Phazon Metroids are, to date, the most cumbersome variant of the creature to deal with; I never in any way stated that I found them difficult. If you don't want fights, don't pick fights.
The way you phrased it at the start implied you had problems fighting them.

By the way, Fission Metroids.

I just got the game this afternoon. Just took down Meta Ridley (Great battle) and went to Bryyus. About to trek from my ship into the fray, now.

I have to say, this game is so much more awesome (so far) than the first two. And my expectations were high, too.

The whole fiasco on Norion isn't adequately representative of the majority of the game. Most of it is still exploration and puzzle solving. The Norion part is still the tutorial, and it's a fast-paced combat environment.

I was kinda hoping the whole game would be like that, but the way they did it instead is still just as good.

Rundas is pissing me off to a phenominal degree. Thrice I've tried to win and as a result, died. The last two times I had him at like a pixel of the health bar and he just clubbed me to death. I have no clue how to win against this guy.

EDIT: May I add, there is zero health to be found in the arena too! Some fight.

Health pops out of the ice spires he destroys swinging around his Phazon club. But hey, if you don't get hit, you won't die!

Just remember, when in hypermode, as long as you don't let yourself hit terminal corruption or get hypermode failure, you're basically invincible. Also, if you just unload into him as soon as you pull off his armor, it does like half his health. In both my playthroughs, I haven't actually seen him go into hyper mode.

Yeah that's the thing, how do you avoid those two? I'm scared to death to use hypermode for fear of instant game over that happened one time earlier.

Terminal Corruption occurs when your phazon bar stays maxed out for an extended period while you're in a corrupted hypermode. To avoid this, don't let enemies keep hitting you when you have a bar, especially the strong enemies like pirate commandos, and start firing randomly if you get too high. Ideally, you should keep a corruption at about half to three quarters of a bar, so you're not in too much danger but have enough to unload into a threat.

Hypermode failure seems to occur when you're hit too much at one time.

Also, don't spam hypermode too much. If you do, you run the risk of a strong phazon-based attack forcing you into a corrupted hypermode, and if there's a steady stream of fire coming at you and you didn't expect it, that can easily get you terminal corruption, which totally sucks.

So like... is this supposed to be the last Metroid Prime game?

I'm ready for the sequel to Fusion now.

Ah, I see. Much thanks for this info, hopefully I can avoid being corrupted now that I know what to avoid. Time to tackle Rundas again.

A quirky bug I found with Rundas makes him stand there and not do anything. I don't know how to reproduce it, but I have the footage since I was recording the music. It took me a few seconds to notice he was just standing there, so don't laugh.

Footage:
Rundas Bug (MPEG) - 27.0 MB

And the music:

Rundas (Vorbis) - 3.33 MB
Rundas (MP3) - 6.47 MB

This just happened to me. So I won the battle without any effort whatsoever. I stunned him on a pillar of ice, and I yanked his shield off along with him, I guess the game glitches his AI when he's next to a wall, because he just stood there, his armor didn't regenerate or anything. It was pretty strangeness.

Anyway, after that I did some trekking around and just got the missile gunship upgrade.

EDIT: Oh yeah Guy, kudos on finding the music. Great stuff.

I found Rundas to be a tad annoying as well, mainly because I was afraid to use hypermode, and normal attacks don't hurt him much. And having successfully completed the game, I can say that
Spoiler:
while the ending was satisfying, I agree that the way they removed all th phazon was stupid. I was expecting to atleast dive into the ground and fight the planet's core or something, even if all I had to do was shoot it, it makes more sense than Dark Samus/Aurora Unit dead = All phazon and planet -> KABOOM!
