Probably to save bandwidth on bots who constantly surf around on the place.

And for not being able to turn it off, it's just something we overlooked. I probably look into adding it soon even...

Last view: 3221 days 		The problem with having layouts disabled by equipping an item is that it is not obvious. Also, it requires that new users must collect coins before they can disable layouts.

I think that turning layouts on for guests would be a good way to show the character of the site to potential new users. Concerns about bot bandwidth would be better addressed by excluding some types of pages with robots.txt. (eg. "Disallow: /board/thread.php?pid=" should greatly reduce the number of thread page hits from bots.)

I designed it so it wouldn't have a lot of flashy elements to it and thus wont detract from my post, which is really what I'm trying to get across. With this layout, which I call "Nan", I hope to achieve a higher sense of importance on the actual post without a high regard for the bells and whistles that accompany it which are essentially meaningless.
