I thought I'd bring up the subject seeing as the summer is waning, and the responsibilities requisite of life return for most.

This autumn, I'm taking a bunch of classes, which will hopefully be a delightful college experience.

I'm taking:

MATH 270 Linear Algebra
MATH 260 Vector Calculus
HSB ENGL 201 English Composition, with some lame Berkeley seminar
HSP FILM 101 Introduction to Film, with an interesting seminar
ECON 101 Macroeconomics (Easy for me, but I've heard the teacher is good.)
BIO 101L Biology Lab (General Education isn't a good idea.)

So a pretty easy year awaits.

I'm going to my second year of college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Which is awesome.

And I'm taking:
  • Biology 1010: Intro to Biology is mandatory for Computer Science majors at my school. Silly, no?
  • Computer Science 2220: Programming in Java is my blow-off course for this semester. I practically think in Java, so this way I get a few easy credits.
  • Computer Science 4430: Programming Languages is a mandatory class for Computer Science majors. It is supposed to kinda suck, but I like the course material so I still am hopeful.
  • Computer Science 4440: Software Design and Documentation is another mandatory class for Computer Science majors. I'm not enthusiastic about this at all, but I have to take it some time.
  • Experimental Games Mentorship is the name of the TA position I have for a senior-level experimental game design class. It's going to be obscenely awesome.

Finishing up my undergrad this year at Notre Dame. All techincal courses for the rest of my time here.

Mechanics I - Intro to statics (getting my out of discipline engineering science taken care of, should be easy)
Semiconductors I - Introduction to semiconductor design and implementation (boring requirements, medium difficulty)
Control Systems - Advanced signals and electronics design in control and feedback systems (interesting, difficult)
Senior Design - Building a Series Hybrid motor cycle for senior design (tons of fun, going to be a bitch to actually complete by the end of the year)
Independant Graduate Studies, Power Electronics - One on one with my advisor learning all about the introduction of PWM controlls for power generation and regulation (Getting myself ready for my masters program in Power Electronics, shouldn't be too difficult)

Going to be a great year, enjoying senior year to the fullest with fall break in Florida, spring break in Puerto Rico, and living in one of the largest rooms on campus as an RA.

Goldstein's Mechanics is supposedly a solid graduate-level mechanics book, if that's what you're using--heavy, too.

Well, I've got a busy slate for the Fall Semester.

  • MATH 221: Differential Equations, looking forward to this class because I'm a geek like that

  • CSCE 310: Data Structures and Algorithms, again another class that should be cake, and I'm ready to whiz through.

  • PHYS 212: Physics II and Lab: this class could go either way, more electricity and magnetism than anything, so could be good

  • PSYC 102: Intro to Psychology: because I have to take something in the group or whatever it is

  • CSCE Special Thing: Design Studio, 10 groups of 5 or so students get the opportunity to work on a software development project for some well known company in Computers (ex. Google, Microsoft, IBM, etc). I just received word that they would like to ask me questions to see if I'd be able to be a part of a team. Interview is tomorrow, wish me luck .

  • Work, I work doing Web Development for the University in .NET, I hate the fact it's in .NET, but it pays pretty well and I like who I work with.

  • Weekends: will be filled with watching football and working on my own development projects, along with homework.

  • Propose to the GF... not sure if it's going to be in the fall... but who knows. Depends on my cash flow and how things are going.

I'll be starting college this fall, working on a BCS degree.
  • SPAN-203: Intermediate Spanish. Luckily I only have to take one semester of a foreign language, then I'm done.
  • PSYC-151: Introductory Psychology. Eww, core classes
  • BIOL-141: Cell Biology & Genetics. Also eww, core classes.
  • CS-108: Intro to Computing. I'm not exactly sure what "Intro to Computing" is supposed to mean, but I guess I'll find out.

And of course, I'll be enjoying the fast internet that almost never dies (unlike now.)

That won't be necessary. I'll probably just do the work with some of the sophomores in my dorm considering that it's a required sophomore AME course. I don't really feel like dropping hundreds on books I don't need. Just getting the out of major elective taken care of.

- PHYS 111 - Mechanics I
- STAT 110 - Introduction to statistics.

I'm working on a bachelor degree in meteorology.

And I'll be studying MAT 112 - Calculus II on my own.

I'll be resuming my college courses in two weeks (just after I finished a summer course to boot!), I'm taking:

Math 155: Calculus 1
Stat 211: Elementary Statistical Inference
Phys 101: Introductory Physics
Phys 101: Introductory Physics (Lab)
Geog 102: World Regions

I'll be hopefully working in the campus library again, and I'm currently lining myself up for a secondary job working a microfilm query service for one of our campus alumni.

Four classes here...

CSC320 -- Social Issues in Computer Science (TR 12:30-1:45)
CSC402 -- Compiler Design (MWF 9-9:50)
CSC411 -- Computer Organization (TR 11-12:15)
CSC436 -- Data Management Systems (TR 2-3:15)

402's my Monday/Wednesday/Friday class, meaning after I get out of class at 10, I work til 4, then go home and scream at my IDE of choice for a few hours.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I may be sitting in on a CSC110 -- Survey of Computer Science class since it's before all the rest of my classes and I wanna see if I can tutor for it. Go in for 9, get out at 4. Pretty good I'd say.

I might even enroll in a second class for Mondays and Wednesdays, one about computer graphics. Not so sure yet.

My classes for the fall semester sound a bit more exciting than a lot of what you guys are taking. If you define "exciting" as "dry, boring English courses," that is.

Honors 330: Hudson River Valley Studies
Religious Studies 208: Judeo-Christian Scriptures
English 324: Chaucer
English 328: Modern English and American Poetry
English 230: Workshop in Editing and Revision

MATH 1210, Methods of Problem Solving
CIS 1513, Database Design and Introduction to SQL
CIS 1207, Programming Logic and Design
BA 1131, Business Interpersonal Skills
IT 1010, Introduction to Computers

Just Monday through Thursday, and most of the mornings are free. This is my first time at college, hopefully nothing will go wrong :x

I read some of the Canterbury Tales this past year for school. Thank goodness we read them in modern English, because my teacher showed us a page of the middle English and I could barely understand a single sentence.

Well I'll be working a little. I'll also be editing two short films I did during the summer. I'll probably work on some other projects too. Besides that I'm registered for the following courses...

COMP 229 - System Software (Some boring computer course)
COMP 239 - Discreet Math 2 (Some boring math computer course)
CART 351 - Mandatory art course
CART 261 - Maya Course (Because I've only been using 3dsMax)

I have a feeling it will be a bit of both. I couldn't tell ya for sure yet, though.
