I've been nailed with two.

The first, heading down a city street doing 54 in a 35, for which I had to take a class. Defensive Driving bullshit. My teacher was the guy who pulled me over. Funny thing is, I was going with the flow, and I was singled out. The guy right next to me was going faster, but I didn't have the proof, and I got nailed anyway.

The second, I was on my way to another part of the state, and got pulled over for doing 83 in a 55. It was a nice old man that pulled me over, and only gave me a $32 fine for the "65 in a 55" violation.

All in all, I probably should slow down. I might kill people. I do admit I'm a little reckless sometimes, and I know that people have lost loved ones because of the recklessness. Not only that, it saves my wallet.

Any thoughts on this? Other experiences?

I can't get any.. yet.. Maybe once I get photo ID, and then send off my application. If I get done for speeding on a test or lesson, I will laugh.

Honestly, I've never been pulled over in all the years I've been driving. I tend to go 5 over most of the time, occasionally 10...

I also watch for cops. "Hey, there's a white car up on that overpass. Wonder why. ZOOM! Woah, that guy behind me just zipped past me without using his turn signal! He's not even wearing his seat belt!" Yes, that did happen last week. Saw the jerk get pulled over. I was happy.

Worst I got marked for was about 100 in a 55 that was written '76 in a 55' which was barely the second line of probation in a speeding ticket. The alternative was being nailed as a felon. 4 months probation at 120 dollars for a ticket wasn't bad in comparison at all.

That's the only time I've been pulled over for a ticket, actually. Driven 110 in a 55 before.

I'm not a big fan of driving. That's why I usually drive 5-10 mph under the speed limit. The only reason I agree to drive in my neighborhood is because of an almost townwide speed limit of exactly 25 and there is very little traffic. I just go 20 mph unless there is a car behind me. Then I go a few mph.

And yes, I did pass the driving test.

I've never gotten any sort of ticket. I've only been pulled over once, and that was for having an out-of-date license plate sticker. I seriously wonder why the police have nothing better to do than sit around and look at the dates on peoples' license plates. Luckily I just got a warning, no ticket.

I haven't gotten any (but I've only been driving for about a year)

I usually go 5-10 over.

I used to dick around in my old corolla alot, doing 65 in a 35, zoomed past a cop, I hear the siren go off, check in my side mirror, cop makes a right.

Got a camaro, integra, and 300zx tickets, missed them all cause my car was so fucking slow.

No tickets yet. I did get pulled over for not having my lights on during a huge thunderstorm though.

The only time I really ever go over the speed limit is on the highway, where I usually go about 7-10 over. Otherwise, I'll go 2 or 3 over at the max.

I drive 65-70 on the freeway and 55 on non-freeway streets (i.e. I don't care what the posted speed limit). I've been doing that for about 2.6 years now and still no speeding ticket.

*knocks on wood*

Ahem, yeah. I'd drive the speed limit, but drivers here are so irritating. If they aren't driving *over* the speed limit, they're driving 5-10 *under* it.

Needless to say, I use my horn a lot.

Wait, you people get tickets by being pulled over by the cops?

Jeez, we just have speed cameras. ;

And for reference, no I haven't eaten any speed tickets yet.

Let's see here:

I've gotten one for 83 in a 65, which was marked down to 75.
I've gotten one for 55 in a 35, which was marked down to 40.
I've gotten pulled over by my cousin when I was doing 83 in a 50. Gotta love family.
I recently got pulled over for 67 in a 45, cop marked it down to 55. Those are the only points still on my license.

Twice recently (as in within the last 2 months, the most recent one actually last night), I saw a cop ahead and slowed down, and he got the guy behind me. The first time, it was approaching a construction zone, I was in the left lane and saw "Right lane closed ahead" and a cop in the median so I slowed from about 75 to 60 (and I was only doing 75 because I saw a cop there the previous night, otherwise I'd have been doing 85). The guy who was behind me went to the other lane and passed me, and I saw the cop pull right out. He was probably doing 80 in a 55, construction zone (ouch). Then last night on the way home from work, I saw brake lights in front of me when the guy in front passed a spot I know cops hide in, so I eased off the gas. The guy behind me didn't, and he got pulled over. He was about 20 carlengths behind me, and closed to within 2 right as we went by the cop. He was probably doing 75 in a 55.

Edit: Oh, I should add: I usually drive between 70-80, depending on the speed limit (55 = 70, 65 = 80), and have driven past cops at that speed without having them pull me over.
The fastest I've ever driven was well over twice the limit in a 65. By a good 15MPH.

If you do that, you lose your licence incredibly fast. 40 km/hr over the limit = immediate loss of licence.

I used to speed almost all the time but I only go up to 5 above since it's legal according to the speeding ticket. The ticket says that going 10mph above or faster is enough to get slammed for.

95 in a 60 - $350
78 in a 60 - $180

You know how you'd drive and fall asleep for a few seconds? When I was asleep on the wheel (around 2 am) while driving back from a get-together in Kansas City, I hit 150+. I woke up to the sound of a loud bumping noise and I swerved back onto the right lane and slowed down. Thankfully there weren't any other cars (or cops) on the road at the time. I decided to sleep on the side of the highway for a few hours. It was a stupid idea to try driving through a 14 hour trip without resting.

Let's see, I've gotten two tickets, both going north on I-71. I speed a good amount on highways. The first ticket I was doing 90, but got marked as 80, and the second time I don't know how fast I was going, since my speedometer is off right now. Not as fast as the first time, I don't think.

There should so be a different speed limit for the fast lane, at least when the highway is 4 lanes.
