Same one posted on SMW Central. Ahem...
Screenshots galore, pretty much. 23 of them, to be precise. Enjoy...leave feedback...thanks muchly

Same old title screen...from 2002 XD

World 1, Emerald Forest.

Rule #1 of my hack: NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS.

Nothing at all...

How to get thru this pipe...?

Rule #2: Trust the Coins

Blue blocks turn on water, yellow ones turn it off.

Level 2, along with a new object.

TRUST THE BLOODY COINS!!

But if there are no coins...

Use a Sprite to find out!

Hit the POWs in the right order!

Overlapping objects conceal...

All kinds of things!

Midway points.

Sprite-only block

Emerald Woods, level 3.

Emerald Canopy, level 4.

Be careful!

Outside the ancient hidden citadel.

Yoshi Coin blocks. If you need to do this, you'll see some of them sitting around, like the ones beneath the pipe.

Inside the citadel. Background is from Super Mario Universe - I'll give Forte credit.

Remember: Nothing is what it seems.

>>Level 2, along with a new object.
The top right block of wall in that picture seems to be missing a left border...

>>But if there are no coins...
Please... do not use that background.

Other than that, this sounds like an interesting idea for a hack to make... it's virtually impossible to judge just based on the screenshots - without having gotten an impression of the gameplay - though.

TRUST THE BLOODY COINS!!

Judging by the coins, can you wall-jump?

Blackhole - actually, you use a pow block to fall through blocks that were once in that spot, so it shouldn't have a left border. I see how that could look weird though...

Myre - No you don't wall jump, there are invisible solid blocks beneath those coins. I suck at ASM hacking XD

The idea sounds nice, but I won't suggesting spoiling anything too much else in future screens. I think the possibilites are limited, though - as the known way disguising various objects (screenshot with throw blocks) with other graphics ...

About the last screen:
Instead of just placing using coins with insivible tiles below them (it's okay, but should be used only scarcely) you could create animated blocks which only display for one frame every cycle. If I am not mistaken, an animation in SMW can be up to eight frames long.

A good idea might be to have blocks which only show for a fixed duration of time, once you enter the screen, then get transparent - so you have a few seconds to memorize the blocks, then you have to jump properly; but I think that cannot be done without any ASM hacking ... or is there a certain block in Block Tool which has similar effects and changes into the next Map16 block (which would be an blank space, and acting as block 25, a cement block) ?

The problem might be having to reset that particular timer, because the blocks would vanish no matter where you are in the screen, if you cannot place certain flags/blocks which just work (once only), when you enter that area.

Actually, my possibilities are continually endless. With just a bit over 100 levels and over 300 things in Block Tool alone, there's quite a bit that can be done. I know I probably shouldn't reveal anything else, though.

The background for your citadel, those tiles are from Super Metroid. I think they were from the Wrecked Ship, I may not remember.

Looks awesome. I like the Extra Graphics.
Do you have a release date?

They're from the save room in Super Metroid, actually. I was giving you credit for the rip.

Not yet. I'll release a demo of world 1 after my beta testers have notified me about any errors (the testers need to be identified still, actually)...I've got about three levels left.

If you just need some beta testers (judging by what you said), please can I?

Love the look of this, two of the rules are in mine as well:

Trust the coins.
Nothing is what it seems...

Can't wait for the demo if i'm not beta testing

Yeah, sure. I don't have a list of beta testers yet, and I need perhaps 5 or so, so I'll put you down...

Didn't you make a demo of this once before? I could've sworn I saw... Wait, I have the hack right here! O_o

I'd like to be a beta-tester, too, please. I liked this hack the first time I played it... Forget where I got it from, though. (Also, your pics look really nice, but I hate the "disguise a block as something else" routine and the "coins show invisible solid objects" thing. They're both annoying to me. )

Well, unfortunately, that's how my hack is ruled out: puzzles and confusion along with the gameplay. Blocks are disguised, yeah, but I figure it makes for trickery, but not in ways that you can ultimately die over and over again, frustratingly, see - that's what I try to do, make it confusing but not hard to beat.

I've released several demos, the last one being released here, about two years ago. I picked it up recently. It's actually kind of an old hack.

I'll put you down for beta testing, Phoenix.

It's not done, not even the first world. I just finished the Yellow Switch Palace, which I might make the Blue anyway, but if you want to, sure, give me your e-mail via PM, I'll send it, give me feedback via PM or this thread.

This looks really cool.

I seem to recall the ghost house in the demo from a while ago really sucked because you couldn't tell where the floor really was and it was right over death acid.

As long as there's nothing that awful I think I'll enjoy this.

Between caring and loving my wife, us juggling work and college, and me having time to spare on Super Mario Universe III and Super Mario Universe IV, I could give this hack a beta-test.

So of course I'd be happy to beta-test it

Looks good, overall. Few things-

First off, the outer border in the title screen is a little eye-searing, at least for me. Secondly, in the switch-palace-tileset levels, I do believe there are actually proper corner tiles. If not, PM me and I'll send you some. For the "Nothing is what it seems," where you have mario climbing the pipe, that's an interesting idea but I think you need a way to show that the pipe is, indeed, climbable. The "If There are no coins" background is horrible, and as blackhole89 said, it should be changed. It simply does not work at all, no matter what game/level/tileset it appears in. I like the coin-trusting and the one-way blocks, however, I would recommend changing them so that the arrows only point in one direction. And for the invisible blocks, yes, please add animation to them. Even if it's just a once-every-16-frames animation, please add it.

I'd be willing to beta-test this.
