I made a Mario out of Bottlecaps.
But yours is bigger and it amazes me. However, I'm a bit disappointed since that's basically just a recolor job. ____________________ |

Yours is better 
I did this because of a digg story entitled "Super Mario made out of cans". It was a giant sculpture of mario in 3d made out of various cans. I thought it didn't look much like Mario (it wasn't like pixel art), but the cans made me think about Andy Warhol's work. So this is the result, not exactly up to my quality standards, a quick hack, but when I saw the "Modern Art" forum I thought about posting it here. |

Bllaaarrrrgh! One of the few things I'll argue to the grave is that Warhol = Lose. Oh look! I painted a can, half-assedly! Now I just need to come up with a load of BS to justify why this is a modern masterpiece, none of which is actually expressed by the picture itself. Oh look! I made a gaudy palette-swap of a gaudy Monroe painting. Big effing deal. (Yes I know Warhol came before NES and palette-swaps, but that doesn't make it genius.) Okay, my argument may sound weak, but I hate that garbage artist enough to not even waste the time forming a good one. Nice work on the mario can-mosaic. Sorry for ranting. |

Mario makes it cool. It could have been a mosaic of multicolored turds.
If i may suggest, your mosaic would be infinitely more win if you replaced each can with screens from the game  |

BounderTower: Don't worry, I'm not really a Warhol fan myself, though I don't hate him like you seem to
Imajin: that was my initial goal, but since cans are almost twice as high as they are wide, it would've distorted the original pixel-art, unless I added a lot of black space to put space between the cans horizontally. Now, I didn't expect that many comments on this, it's just a simple thing I did in a few minutes. |
