I noticed there was no thread for any of the F-Zero games so I made this thread.

I have 2 F-Zero games, F-Zero SNES (which I'm somewhat great at) and F-Zero X (where I SUCK at when it comes to using the techniques).

Here on this first post I will be keeping the best course times that you post as well as my SNES times. (Times in Parentheses are lap times)

BVG's F-Zero Records

Mute City 1: 2'00'62 (23'13)
Big Blue: 2'11'46 (24'45)
Sand Ocean: 2'32'17 (28'98)
Death Wind 1: 1'47'04 (20'58)
Silence: 2'03'54 (23'06)

Mute City 2: 2'04'66 (24'20)
Port Town 1: 1'46'72 (20'60)
Red Canyon 1: 1'49'58 (21'20)
White Land 1: 2'05'45 (24'15)
White Land 2: 2'25'07

Mute City 3: 2'02'95 (23'55)
Death Wind 2: 2'11'28 (24'45)
Port Town 2: 2'26'79 (28'18)
Red Canyon 2: 2'22'65 (27'38)
Fire Field: 3'34'36 (41'42)

I think that F-Zero is a great series. I'm probably one of the few who thinks that SNES is better than X, but that's probably because I'm better at SNES. I just unlocked Master Class for all 3 cups on SNES, yet I can't even beat Standard Class on X.

So what's your opinion/records on the F-Zero games? I'll be taking records from the whole series, even those I don't have!

F-Zero is probably my favorite racing game ever. I never actually kept track of my times but maybe I will someday.

Only played the original F-Zero, F-Zero Climax and F-Zero X though.
I finished the first one on all modes (not too hard since I am not an expert in racing games), F-Zero Climax also made no real threat if you just time your boosts right or boost-fire your way through, even on Master difficulty.

The problem comes in F-Zero X's Master difficultx setting which I never beat actually with something better than a sixth place, though I also like setz never mastered any technique like rail-sliding or even driving good with sliders (machines with an E grip rating). As for records I didn't get into Time Trial in racing games too deeply, I only practiced on Silence a bit and unlocked the Staff Ghost. But beating it ??? Not with an non-analogue game pad and/or my skills.

Need to play F-Zero GX when I get the opportunity.

I usually destroy at least five "machines" in each race. That gives me a life, so if I happened to place other than 2nd or 1st, I can retry and have the same amount of lives as before. It's a time-consuming technique, but the fact that you can retry as many times as you can really helps.

Although it's usually too hard to do this in a successful race, so I use this technique as a last resort.

Red Canyon 2, though (the one with the description of "Slim Line"), is really awesome if you get to the front of the pack quickly, though. Stopping and spinning results and a whole lot of damage and retires.

I never really got into Time Trials in F-Zero or F-Zero X (the only ones I've played)... Grand Prix really was enough for me.

Sidenote: When I replayed F-Zero X recently, I was shocked at the fact that the music was pre-recorded, rather than using MIDI or something. I was too young at the time when I first played it to realize that...

But think about the known fact for full 60 fps (NTSC) due to mono audio and less work for the CPU. The music in F-Zero X usually is fine enough, though it lacks some variety (racing games cannot compared to RPGs though, when it comes to music). It only sucks really, if you disliked hard-rock and/or metal in any way.

I just need to think about the first Extreme G (never played any later part of the series), it is probably one of the fastest racing games ever, but the very choppy framerate on N64 ruined the speed feeling, luckliy Extreme G3 for PS2 seems very fluent (if you can rely on very tiny sized youtube-videos for judging that). The game itself was not that bad, though I liked F-Zero much more.

As for me, I would rather secrifice sound quality for fluent game play; usually you can get the original soundtrack on CD anyeay.

Well, I just beat Queen Cup on Master. Now my next goal is probably going to be for me to get better at F-Zero X.

Also I updated my times to include lap times.
