Could we possibly see "forum bans" introduced to keep posters out of particular subforums they just refuse to follow the rules of (ie, Officers Club) ?

I think we had this before and it solved the problems where users just lacked the ability/maturity/sense to post in forums such as the Debate forum, Officers Club and ??? corner....

I think we used to have it at one point. It was handy when we had some posters who did the right thing everywhere but in a few subforums with specific rules.

I think this was blown up along with a board though.

It was in v1.B or so, I believe... But that version was fucked up.

It was broken, too, as you could post as long as you were logged out...

Okay... I would like to suggest a version of it that isn't broken or fucked up, and that doesn't get blown up then?

:3

And hey, I didn't know any of that.

I guess it could also be applied to the ROM Hacking forums if they have problems or such. Basically any forum where someone consistently just has no idea.

SamuraiX wouldn't happen to have been the one to inspire this idea, eh?
It is a good suggestion in any case.. Would definitely add some flavor to the banning system.

I won't give SamuraiX full credit -- the idea was given to me by the first people who were forum banned by the system prior to it being blown up.

SamuraiX did remind me of it though.

Perhaps implement one similar to the approval system, only people don't have to request approval; it just gets revoked for being a jerk.

The approval system was just a glorified ban and unban system in the ROM hacking area anyway.

So would it be too hard to set up an Officer's Club permission in one's profile?

It's a good idea, but really it would only be useful for the OC and Debate.

If poster wants to post in banned forum, print "No." and return to previous page.

Forum bans would actually be a really good idea. Instead of them getting completely banned for say... over-doing it in the Craziness domain, they get banned from there? It would be fairer for them as well.
