I'm supposed to have 5mbps or something like that and I really only have 2mbps.

Our wiring here sucks too so when winter ends and the snow melts and the wires get all wet and that... my net will be fscked for a few days which usually leads to a mini-disappearance from me. It has the last two years.

(Surprisingly, the first time it happened, the net went up the DAY I came back from getting my wisdom teeth taken out. Poor Hiryuu got the brunt of that from me.)

I tend to be rather content with Comcast (I live in Massachusetts). They're fairly fast and they don't disconnect often (once in the past 3 or so months, and that was a couple of days ago). It's my wireless connection I hate, I'd much rather be hardwired.

By the way, I've lived not very far from Detroit before using Comcast and it was fine. Of course, I was as far from Detroit as Ann Arbor so that might make a pretty big difference.

ISP?

Heh, my ISP is the same as the school I go to. Pretty good as the max speed seems to be 10 megabites, both directions.

Verizon Online DSL... it goes out all the time, and doesn't seem to be completely compatible with our wireless router... but we had the same problems with Comcast...

NTL/Virgin Media. It merged lately.. as for it being bad? I wouldn't say it is. The broadband modem has to stay connected to power constantly, or it takes anything between two minutes to two hours to connect.

My ISP has recently been acting very, very evil.

DNS downs every day at 7PM (when I'm normally on...) that last about six hours. The problem seems to have cleared up, for now...

I use Choice Cable, basically the most affordable in my area ($25/month for 512kbps) It's either that or DMAX, who charge the same amount for 256kbps.

I'm not even going to touch Verizon or Centennial; $60/month for 2.4mbps.

Internet in Puerto Rico is... expensive, to say the least.

I have D&E, a local ISP. They provided the cable and phone service in the apartment building we lived in a few years back. The rental company paid for the cable TV, so we only had to pay for the Internet service. When we moved into our house, we were able to switch our account to the new location. We got to keep the same phone number, and for whatever reason, they never charged us for cable, so we've been paying a whopping $35/month for extended basic cable and Internet. (We bought our own modem to save the $5/month rental charge.) And now we pay $0 because Ogre's company covers our Internet bill. He works at home sometimes, so they consider it a business expense.

I'm happy with our service. It's reliable (I can't remember the last outage, but it must have been at least a few months ago) and it seems fast enough for me. According to Speakeasy's speed test, I get 484.4 KB/sec down, 63.9 KB/sec up.

My ISP is Cox (don't even go there), and they've done a good job of not pissing me off. If I have connection problems, it's a problem on my end 99% of the time, and if I ever need help getting the router to work again (i'm not the sharpest when it comes to that stupid thing), they're quick to get to my call and help me out.

Interesting website... according to that, I get 1313 kb/s downloading, and 52 kb/s uploading... that's quite a difference.

I have 13651 kbps download and 357 kbps upload. Would be nice if it didn't go down so much!

I have 4000/600.

I've seen it go to 125KBPS upload so I know it's 4000/1000.

I live near the station that gives this little town our broadband connection so I get about 90-95% of 24Mbit/s here.

Envy me.

I live on what is apparently the bare edge of the local station's capacity, so our service is nothing like what Verizon says it can provide here... we weren't even able to get DSL service until recently.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 796 kbps (99.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 526 kbps (65.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

I think it's more SpeakEasy's fault, as I've, on multiple occasions, gotten well over 200KB/s

(So much for that 6Mbps line or whatever we have, but again, the wiring here is crap)

MY ISP (Comcast, Detroit area) is pretty lousy. I get kicked off AIM constantly, sometimes once every few minutes. The DNS is terrible, I'll get "Server not found" a lot even on sites where I was just on another page five seconds ago.

But hey, at least it's not dialup (which I had until late 2006).

You see, the problem is....comcast, plain and simple.

Or at least down south, its terrible. Well, I have had worse, but..heh its a pain in my ass, especially when I'm either on Live or trying to play CoH. I'm not worried about the loading time of sites, since I don't frequent them as much.

I have Verizon and it's not too bad. We also have it using our second phone line so I can talk on the phone as I use the Internet.
