well, my last post dissapeared, so i thought i'd ask once more. can i remap the SMB3 Samshable Brick's (Custom Block) 'bounce' GFX to use different ones than the '? block' ? because the ? block and the smb3 bricks have different GFX and colors and it looks odd.

Oh I think I see what you mean now.

Well actually there are three slots shared by the blocks... if that makes any sense...

the ! blocks, turn blocks with items, and smashable brick share data
the ? blocks share data
the regular turn block uses its own data

Basically, all you can really do is seperate the turn block from the brick, item-holding turn blocks, and ! blocks. I've done this, and it enabled me to use bricks and turn blocks in the same level, where the item-holding turn blocks look like bricks.

woah, i thought that the ? block, turn blocks, and turn blocks with items all shared the same GFX spot for the bounce block GFX. so if I change that then won't all those use a different spot for the GFX and the smashable brick use the original spot? or am i misunderstanding something...

No of course the ? blocks and turn blocks don't use the same bounce sprites

From Mattrizzle's notes:

113F1-113F8 [40 6B 2A 42 EA 8A 40 A0]

The first 40: ! blocks, turn blocks with items, and brick
The 2A: ? blocks
The last 40: regular turn block

The rest in there are the bounce tiles used by the musical note block, the wooden block with feather, and others.

Isn't it just possible to use ExGFX, use animations and add them to the Map16 with the specific behavior? Unless I'm misunderstaning it.

oh, i see. well, idk which uses which b/c when i first changed the GFX i just replaced all the bounce sprites so i didn't know what was what and damn, because all the blocks (I'm not using the ! blocks) except the brick use the same bounce GFX. oh well, i'll change some things
