Posted by Ice phoenix Yeah, it does. I used a chomp like that in my old hack, but that was because the main character was Morton (the koopaling), and having him ride a Yoshi would be equally strange. The graphics are nice, though, so far, the gameplay doesn't seem to be anything special, or maybe I'm just being overly critical. I don't know, they seem to be lacking something, well, except for maybe the water level. They seem a bit bland for some reason(again, not including the water level). Maybe add some more objects/obstacles, or something. Make the ground/obstacles a different height, and avoid stretches of just plain ground/water. (That is one screen or longer.) When I make levels, I sometimes like to create alternate paths for the player. One thing I didn't like about the water level though, was the huge line of cheep cheeps that came towards me, forcing me to lose a power-up. Also, part of one of the skeleton koopas in the castle seems to disappear when the player is on the same screen as the thwomps. And you can probably just remove the graphics for the chomp that makes it look like he swallows, after all, he has no throat. In spite of all I just said, this looks promising, so keep up the good work. Also, I would prefer english over french. You might make a version for each language, but that's up to you. ____________________ Damage done. |

Here's some constructive criticism, etc.
1. The link opens a ROM file. No no no, it must be an IPS. 2. The first level is pretty linear, very flat landscape, with some general enemies here and there... could use some of those spiky mines in the water or a varying degree of heights with the platforms. 3. There are way too many raccoon leaves, it's too easy to not not die because of that. 4. The third level is very linear. At least with the ground tiles there are slopes and hills that can be made, try that. 5. You could make a graphic hack of the goal point question sphere in the last level to make it look like an axe, or use the SMB1 bowser sprite from SMWCentral. 6. A major thematic element of the Mario series is missing from this hack - coins! Although there is an arrow of them in level 2 and some that appear with the P-Switch in level 3, pretty much all of the Mario games with coins in them have them sprinkled here and there in the levels, 3, 4 at a time, and even in little jumping patterns, like on YI2 from the original SMW. 7. Scenery would be appreciated, try adding some bushes, etc., and dragon coins. 8. I do not like the physics that came with the power leaf. When you jump, you automatically float in the air a little bit, regardless of what buttons you are pressing, and you float longer while on chomp. And I want my spin jumping back. With a little tidying up, this hack could turn out pretty great, good job so far, Ristar! PS: I would like an English version, too. Although you claim to not be good at English, your sentences are legible, and some of us don't know diddly-squat about french. |
