never heard of it but it sounds new to me.

Anyway, i have finally posted this "Request" in the ASM/Custom Sprites/etc Request thread.
So let's now just leave it at that okay? Good!

Now, hopefully we can get back on topic!

Any new sprite updates mikeyk?

From what I've heard, mikeyk is currently working on a non-movable Spring Board (like in SMB1).

Ooh, so that's what you were doing with the springboard disassembly. I'd wondered if keys could be made stackable before, but not much was going to come of without a block. Do they align to a 16x16 grid when set down like in SMB2? I'm wondering how many the game will be able to keep track of without slowing down. (But I guess the only active sprite is the one Mario's carrying, so that shouldn't be a problem)

Hey Mikeyk, now that sprite Mario carry are a possibility, are sprites that Yoshi can hold in his mouth and spit out a possibility?

icegoom: Yup, that's why I was looking at the Spring Board, but I ended up not using any of its code at all. Oh well.

To answer your questions: When the Mushroom Blocks change back to block form, they do snap back to the 16x16 grid. Because they do change into blocks, slowdown shouldn't ever be a problem.

boingboing: Sprites that Yoshi can hold in his mouth and spit back out are possible. The classic Koopas and Giant Koopas that I've released already take advantage of this.

Do they snap to the NEXT or the NEAREST tile? And what about tiles that have coins, dirt, etc?

Yowza.

I smell vegetables. Even if Mario has to carry them in front of him, that would be sweet.

can we post our own custom sprites here too?

I modified the mikeyk's spring board disassembly and turned into a pow switch, wich kills all the sprites on screen. I want to release it but I'm having a small problem. It still shows the spring board graphics if carried O_o

have you thought of working with mikeyk to recreate some stuff from SMB. 2 which can be carried just like Aya is in your hack.

In the latest version of sprite tool, a sprite's MAIN routine is called after using the games default carrying code. When MAIN is entered, the sprite's status (like being carried) will be in the accumulator. You should be able to call your graphics routine appropriately. Check out the latest version of giant_koopa.asm for an example (contained in koopas.rar, posted earlier in this thread).

What I meant was to have a object carried like in SMB.2 and the screenshots above of ghettoyouth's hack.

I'm pretty sure Ghetto hacked the carrying routine, so all carryable objects are carried like that. I don't think you can make seperate object that are carried like so.

why dont you just change the graphics of the springboard to a switch in that level only?

yes and the springboard uses flipped 8x8 tiles instead of one 16x16 tile.

@mikeyk, thanks I'll look into it now.

edit: get the sprite here

The POW block is pretty damn cool, ghettoyouth. A few issues, though: If you carry it through a pipe, it turns into a springboard. Also, it destroys Yoshi, even if you're riding him when you jump on the POW. Maybe allowances could be made so that, like the level ender, it ignores any sprite that wouldn't be destroyed at the goal point?
