I was on many other board before I joined this one. When I was a noob to boards I used to post things that made no sense, make extremely short posts, ask questions about the board such as "what is spam?" and "Why can't I reply to this thread". I've changed a lot. |

Let's see...
-I said alot of dumbassthings way back in Tek... "This Banedon guy seems kindof like a jerk, I don't think I'm wanted here." -I made multiple accounts on occasion and subsequently got banned. -I NEVER let one argument go. -I had a really loooooong argument with Xkeeper when Tek died. That was funny. 
-I kept asking a bunch of stupid questions about SMW hacking. A classic. -I was dumb enough to use the term, "The world of SMW hacking". 
-I made an old website in Frontpage and tried to make it into a hacking domain. -I argued with Kyouji, Tommathy, Joker... lord knows how many people I flamed. -I thought Ranko was a girl. -I called Acmlm's board a Nazi board. Holy crap, I was a dickhead.  |

My first message board-ish entity was USENET way back in 1995. I got into dumb off-topic arguments from time to time, but I think that was the worst of it. I feel that I'm generally well-behaved on boards, and GameFAQs didn't break me of that habit.  (I was even a mod there for a while before I got auto-demoted due to inactivity and never asked for my spot back because I knew I didn't have the time for it.)
Colin - I lurked and read the FAQ, too. I generally lurk on boards before joining because I want to get an idea of whether I'll be interested in them first, and I don't like to have a bunch of inactive accounts open everywhere. |

I'd say the most noobish thing I did was not post at all. Typically on message boards I never wanted to say anything at all unless I was 110% sure I knew what the hell I was talking about, and thus was afraid to say anything at all in the fear that I'd fall into all the cardinal sins of the interwebs as mentioned all through this thread.
I think I find it a little easier to open up now, at least 90% of my posts aren't in the SF anymore |

Posted by Caos How is that "noobish"? If anything, that's the exact opposite of what being an idiot means to me: opening your mouth before knowing what you're talking about. Of course, you don't have to be 110% sure, but if you just "post post post" every ten seconds without thinking about what you're doing then you're doing something wrong. Putting it as simply as I can, it sounded like you actually had a good idea of what you were doing, and it seems like you were probably actually pretty smart. That said, there are, I believe, certain users guilty of posting before thinking here, but I'm not going to say who. |

I WAS AN ANGEL NEWBIE.
This wasn't my first message board experience, and I had YD making sure I didn't do anything stupid, so... I don't think I broke any rules (at least no major ones). I did, however, stay within the safety of the newbie forum for about a week before venturing elsewhere. I had the hottest Naomi Watts layout, too. |

When I first joined forums, I memorized the rules on each and every one, so I generally didn't act like a n00b. But on Acmlm's Board, there were tons and tons of rules, and I wasn't sure of what to do or what not to do.
So I posted bad ROM hacks, asked questions that were more-than-obvious, and probably spammed a little, with crappy, "Good job!" posts. I've always been careful when it comes to grammar, so you won't see posts of mine that are hard to read/don't make sense. When I read posts with crappy misspellings and grammar problems, I feel like my IQ drops. |

Eh, I think I was a pretty well-behaved newbie. I was in high school when I was "properly" introduced to the Internet (back in 1996-97?), and I was a pretty quiet, mellow, and intelligent (or so I like to think ) kid. Probably the n00biest thing I did was ask a ROM hacking board why my QuackShot cartridge for the Genesis didn't make any sound...I guess I thought they were geniuses or something.
Unfortunately, one old habit I STILL haven't been able to break is my tendency to end sentences with ellipses (ellipsises? ellipsi?)... ...  ____________________ [citation needed] |
