For the past few months, my DS has had problems where sometimes when I turn it on it won't recognize new carts when I change them. I always figured it was dust; I blew on them and reinserted them and all was fine. However, I was playing Megaman ZX just now and the message "The game pack has been removed" popped up and the game froze (appears to be by design )
My question is, does anyone know what I could do to prevent this from happening? |

I'm pretty sure the freezing is by design; other games will freeze or power off too. However, it sounds like your card slot may have a bad connection. It might be fixable by just cleaning it and/or the cards. |

Be certain you're always inserting them before the power button is hit. DS is like any other cart-based system in that regard. With Action Replay DS as the lone exception, you need to switch while on for it. ____________________ |

DS is actually capable of hotswapping cards, but official software doesn't do it. Inserting or removing them (or GBA carts) will freeze the firmware and any games that use them. |

On that topic; heh, I note that I can remove a GBA pack whilst DS is running a slot-1 game without that happening, but inserting causes that crash you mentioned. |

Do they make official cleaning kits for the DS? I've never seen one but it's a cart-based system so... certainly possible.
I have that problem rarely but it's always fixed by re-inserting the cart... so I dunno. |

Posted by DoritokillerIndeed.Posted by Sukasa Blowing can make the problem worse, due to the humidity from the mouth when you blow. Making the metals corrode would only make it worse. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org
