Ultimate nerd test, if you get the joke... then you are a nerd.

bah.
Spoiler:
Take 6502 apart and put it back 'to gether' and you get... 9052? (flip the 6 and swap the 0/5)

It's not so bad if you never plan on being a professional in the field at anywhere decent. If you go to some random place, they wouldn't know better, but you'd totally get fired if you tried that shit somewhere good

Funny, but I wouldn't call it the ultimate nerd test.

I noticed while tidying up a function I wrote the other day that it was returning a pointer to a local array. I've gotta stop coding late at night. (Miraculously, it worked, but I fixed it anyway. )

Of course it worked, generally that data isn't immediately reset (in most languages). Now, you'd get problems the moment more was allocated, of course...

Alastor's correct -- however, it's even worse with languages that have automatic garbage collection. I'm not a fan of switch/break statements either...

I prefer top down programming. Even in languages where it isn't necessary, I still write them in that way for organization.

Grey, why the hate against switch? I think it looks better than a "if-else-if-else..." chain. >>

Switch blocks have their uses, just like if-else-if-else chains.

I liken them to the difference between for-next, do-loop and while-wend. Which is, to say the least... very little.

But switch statements are much, much cleaner than if else chains.

From what I've seen, compilers will often turn switch statements into jump tables (assuming the case values are close together) and if/else chains into just a bunch of conditional branches.

Bio, yes, the NES uses a 2A03 which is, as I understand, a 6502 with some sound stuff built in.
