I posted about this on smwentral.
Just a little project I finished to tide everyone over while taking a break from my larger project. I did some GFX changes and made the well-known unused Layer 3 cage sprite display properly. http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=showhack&id=413 In case any of you don't know, using a tileset specific layer 3 in an incorrect header with sprite number 88 will put Mario inside of a glitched sort of cage. Add autoscroll and the cage will move Mario forward. However, the Graphics appear glitchy. the point of this hack is to be a base for those of you who are interested in using the cage. All the original SMW levels are present, minus level 105, which is instead a demonstration level for the cage. As you can see, the graphics a FAR from perfect. Can somebody perhaps make a graphics sheet for me for the cage? |

It was originally assumed that the cage was to be carried by flying bluebirds, but nobody knows what the cage was to look like. Have you found the cage's mapping? ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

You mean on the graphics page? Yeah. I edited them a bit. As you can see, the edges are made of bricks now instead of castle windows. But it still doesn't look that good. I'm looking for something t replace those bricks with. |

I'll have to pop open Lunar Magic, but if I recall correctly there's some unused tiles in the Layer 3 GFX. If there is, I'll try to design something that would fit within the unused space. ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

Did you change the actual tilemap or did you just overwrite tiles (causing some other Layer 3 images to look like crap)? ____________________ |

I overwrote some tiles. However, since I replaced castle windows with castle bricks, it doesn't look like crap, just like more bricks. I WOULD repoint the graphics, but I can't find an ASM editor. Hopefully by the time I make version 2.0 I'll have the tilemap itself fixed, and no tiles overwritten. |

Okay, I've found sixteen unused 8x8 tiles in the Layer 3 GFX. I could probably work with that space, but not today as I'm getting a massive headache. ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

Changing which tiles to use for the cage is a piece of cake, but I don't feel like doing it. ____________________ |
