I got:

Super Paper Mario

Wayne's World/Wayne's World 2 two pack

and a lot of other stuff, too. And I can play M rated games!

This reminds me when I turned 17. I was excited that I could buy M rated games just like you are right now.

Ironically, I haven't bought a single M-rated game since I turned 17 in October.

Anyway, happy birthday to you.

You're just able to play M games? My parents allow me to play M games. Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid...

It was really funny, though. When we got MGS3: Subsistence at Gamestop, the guy at the counter announced loudly to us, "DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS GAME CONTAINS: BLOOD AND GORE, INTENSE VIOLENCE, LANGUAGE, AND SEXUAL THEMES?"

Well, congrats on taking one step closer to death.

Being able to buy M games on your own... Sounds nice, I guess.

Funny you mention that. I was about ready to go and pick that game up.

Got a copy of MGS3 for my father for Father's Day but never picked up a copy of Subsistence for myself. It's also down to cheap (17 bucks when I looked).

I rarely ever buy M games (I usually don't even pay attention to the ESRB stuff).

No cake toda, my back is killing me. Happy birthday anyways!

Happy berfday.

My first M-rated game was the 11th Hour, which I got for Christmas when I was 16. The mature content in the game was typical blood and suggestive sexual stuff, and I didn't think it was that big of a deal, probably because I'd been reading Stephen King and watching R-rated movies since the age of 11. My parents were reasonably laissez-faire about that stuff.

This thread reminds me of how I'm supposed to card everyone for M rated games and don't.

I do, however, card the ridiculously obnoxious kids that come in because I'm an asshole like that.

My first M rated game was Doom II. I had Doom before that yes, but that was before the ESRB was established (and they can't get involved with direct mail-in order, anyway)

I did, before I moved out.

Even though I specifically and repeatedly asked to not get anything because the whole damn house was out of money. =/

On the subject of M-rated games, my first was Doom 64, when I was... 12? My grandmother got it at a yard sale for a dollar.

Just a few years after it came out.

I don't think Doom had an ESRB rating.

The console ports and the Ultimate Doom did, but not the very very original Doom.

If I'm not mistaken, though, wasn't there SOME sort of warning on the original DOOM? I think I remember something about it speak about it.

Maybe it was just everyone else. But that was mine as well right WHEN it came out...I was about 10 or so at the time.

I'm a bit pissed off that my 18th birthday is long gone.

I mean, what's left now?

16 - legal sex, cigarettes, lottery
17 - driving
18 - legal drinking age

20 - nothing
21 - nothing
22 - nothing

and so on.

Sucks, really.
