Well, with Emuz absent and everything running on his machine, there's few to nothing I can do. Otherwise, upgrading the IRC daemon would be a good option, we are using a rather obsolete by now version of InspIRCd...

Either way, so far, EmuNET has proven relatively stable compared to the netsplit/hub crash rate of other networks I've been on... in my experience anyway. Of course, it seems crashes tend to happen outside my uptime, so...

I'll try to bug Emuz to let me host a node one of these days. That way, his downtimes would turn into mere netsplits from services and whoever is connected to his nodes.

The problem is that my provider is steadfast at blocking port 6667 (IRC's default) (apparently without explicitely banning IRC, though).

Heh, I did offer a node as well.

Though between my computer and the german server, the latter have somewhat more stable connection. Seems like I tend to have the most unstable connections at beginning/end of semesters.

You could allow connections on ports 6666, 6668, and 5555. I can't connect to port 6667 while I'm at school either, so I have to use 6666 for kafuka.

And yes, please host a node. I know emunet's netsplits were the subject of ridicule, but in cases like this, I'd prefer a netsplit over a entire-network-isn't-working-at-the-moment.

It's responding to ping now, but I get connection refused when I try to connect. So the connection is working now, but I guess the IRC server itself isn't running.
