If I called anyone spastic or a spaz, they would probably just laugh themselves to death, as that's how much effect that word has.

On the topic of the game, I'm assuming it either shows up in a mini-game, or the story mode if there is one

Well, I wouldn't like to be called a spaz in general (even though I am one), since it is a terrible way of saying someone has a problem

Also, you get expelled around here for using the word spaz/spazzy. That's how serious it is for here :/

I've found what could be considered questionable stuff in all the mario party games actually. Nothing I personally find offensive, just funny things to be in a kids game. Of course its mostly just my dirty mind. Most of the song titles in particular I always saw alternate meanings in. I can't think of any off hand since its been a while since I've played any, but if anyone's curious I could play one again real quick and post a few that made me giggle. I think the weirdest thing I can remember in one was in either 6 or 7, I think its 7 where in one of the boards you come up to this cannon and it says "hop on the big gun and ride!" or something like that. Or it might have been a rocket or something, I'm not quite sure, I just know there seemed to be a lot of sexual innuendo but like I said, that's mostly my dirty mind. I really need to play these again.

You think if they were going to go off on mario party for spastic, then why didn't they go off on some of the earlier stuff seeing as how some of it would probably be viewed as more offensive. But then I guess it makes sense if spastic is considered really offensive in the UK. But yeah, here no one would care. That would be like the least offensive thing people would find in it.

I found a spelling mistake in Mario Party 3. Check out Toad's sound test. Really, how does something like that slip through quality control?

This can be summed up in one smile/emote:
I mean, spastic isn't such a bad word. Why, it's only as bad as "damn". Seriously...

It's not even nearly as bad as "damn," so what does that tell you.

Posted by Rich
Spastic is a derogatary term used here to indicate someone has severe mental or retardation problems.

It means the same thing here, but it's not really malicious, it's more of a playful ribbing.

Heck, ten or fifteen years ago, every teenager in America was calling someone "spaz."

Breaking news!

Just because something is so in America does not mean it's the same elsewhere.

So the line from Magikoopa is where it is, I hear.

Proper UK versions have:
"Magikoopa Magic! Turn this train erratic. Make this ticket tragic!"

Seems from what I read, Erratic is spastic in the US english version. No suprise about it being recalled if it's there. I saw that line siz times in one [15 turn] play of that board.

And the US-UK Thing. Just because US originated from the UK, doesn't mean you have to be correct all the time.

Fixed. But, if Nintendo felt that strong about it, then something is obviously wrong with that word.

Also, HyperHacker, spastic is beyond a simple spelling mistake. Besides, tonnes of games have spelling mistakes.

Is it just me, or does the line with "erratic" seem to flow better than it would with "spastic"? Something to do with the rhythm of it, I think...

Seems so, but I read the US version to be:
"Magikoopa magic! Turn the train spastic! Make this ticket tragic!"

I still think erratic sounds cooler..

Some of the mini games can be interpreted as more...adult activities. My friends and I refer to Grab Bag as Ass Burglary. And there's one in Mario Party 8 where you have to shake up a can of pop by shaking the Wii controller up and down FAST. Let's just say that after pwning several guys at that game, I declared myself the King of Spank.

Ahh, good ol Wikipedia, now you can see why we find it offensive. As someone who works with individuals who have severe learning difficulties (and I have worked with some individuals who had cerebal palsy at one time), I applaud Ninty's decision to pull it, it makes no sense anyway, Turn the train s****c? What on earth is that supposed to mean?

Still, this is stupid to me. Who would get upset about the word spastic, regardless of connotations? That's just retarded.

It just goes to show that in the UK we have to wait and pay for games to be translated, but we don't actually receive any benefit. Of course, the games are being translated to French, German and Spanish, but this proves there is never any effort spent on localising games to Great Britain.

It's just another ripoff.
