I don't know if some of you actually noticed that I finished Bowser's Return and released a demo of my new hack called Toad's World.

The title screen looks neat, good work on that. The overworld is pretty interesting too.. although not a lot is going on there, and I assume you're still working on it judging by the fact there is only one level, one castle, and Mario's sprite remains unchanged.
The first level shot there is a bit.. dull? There isn't any level background to be seen there, and nothing really going on to make the screenshot look all that interesting.. The sprites and YI style graphics look nice though. The second level shot is.. less dull at least, pretty nice looking I guess, but still not much going on, especially on the left most side of the image. Emptiness like that doesn't express much on behalf of the level design. The third level shot... eh, not much more to say. I can't tell much from the castle screenshot unfortunately, very hard to judge much based on that particular screen.. though nothing is particularly wrong with it either. *shrugs* Overall, I'd say you could potentially make a very nice hack here.. Based on the initial screenshots here though, seems you have a ways to go before getting there. Still, seems like you could do some pretty neat things with Toad here if you're creative, so good luck with it. |

This looks wonderful! All the colors blend so well, they're nice on the eyes, and the style is great! Glad to finally see some consistency in a hack, the new character graphics are a nice refresher. ____________________

I have a question. Are you planning on using the ground from the Toad Jump in SPP? Because I was planning on using that as the main ground in my Super Maria Sisters game. If you are, I will have to find something else to use.
I also was thinking of using Mario Party for the overworld. Looks like you beat it to me. |

It's not in use yet. If Mario is swimming in water he has a specific amount of air before he is dieing. Though, it will only work with a custom block, so Mario won't die in underwater levels and such. |

Posted by Tweaker Am I the only one bothered by the fact Toad is the only character that has no black outline on those screens ? That makes the style inconsistent to me. Apart from that and a few other details, it's rather nice. |

Posted by Stifu Actually, now that you mention it.. yea. I guess I didn't notice before because the screenshots are kind of small in the current resolution I'm using. It doesn't look bad exactly, but yea, it is a bit inconsistent with the rest. |

Black outlines may not look the best to some, but they improve the visibility of your sprites (and add a classic feel to them)...
On screen 3, Toad's sprite, on its own, looks fine. However, on screen 4, it doesn't stand out enough because of the background... Sooo, blacklines is the easy way to get things to look good. Otherwise it's updating all the sprites and making sure the backgrounds don't get in the way. |
