All I'm saying is that for some people, it's something like a Blackberry or this. And this looks a lot better--you'd be pushing it if you said it looked shabby--and it's pretty easy to use. Frankly, I think the iPhone isn't pitched towards kids so much as much as the iPod, it's the "hip new thing" that adults can have, it's something you can bring to work.
Not many would go so far as to say that it's a replacement for everything, but for a lot of people, it does a pretty good job at that (hint: not everyone cares so much about formats). And for the record, on my phone, you can take notes--in the unlikely case that you'd need to know a large amount of data verbatim-- during a call. Maybe it's because I'm not such an audiophile as most, but the 2GB afforded by my phone suffices for both my music, pictures, applications and whatnot. Not to mention bulky camera is bulky, and know few people who really need one. There's still paper and pen for taking notes, I might add, but suppose even that may become an antiquity not too far ahead. |

The following question is, what are the other companies doing? They replace your battery for free? The other question is about the "keyboard". If, using the iPhone, you can't type well (or fast, or whatever) because the keys are too small, then how the other phones do better than that? I'd add that your cell phone can fit in your pocket. Your laptop can't...
Actually, it's quite hard for ANY product to be "worth its price", specially in United States, since the general "common sense" about pricing is the mega-simplistic "lower-means-better-no-matter-the-quality-or-other-factors". If a product could have a price of -1.00$, it'd be the damn greatest product ever, no matter its nature. Could be a big hump of perfectly twirled dog shit... Okay, I'm exagerating a bit... Nevertheless, it's still true that 600$ is a lot. The main preoccupation should be more towards the "backwards marketing" nature of this kind of thing. Instead of making a product that people want (need precedes production), it's exactly the opposite (produce and then force-create the need). It's more of a symptom, and it should ring a bell to anyone sensible to questions of social organisation. And it's just one of many products that follow such a pattern... |

If something was worth -$1, I'd buy an infinite amount (and then "give" them back to the store to buy more ) ____________________ |

Posted by TraxI have a MotoRAZR v3m. I got the phone for -$50 (with a 2-year contract). A battery costs $45, and I can put it in myself. Apple's i-products seem to consistently require you to send them in in order to get the batteries replaced. I don't type on the phone, so I can't discuss the other questions. I do know some phones have full keyboards, though. |

Posted by The Red Snifit You think that's bad? 90% of the people my age in town (I'm 14) have a cell phone. And the iPhone is too rich for my blood... to use one, meh, cool. To buy one... oh God no. ____________________ D: Can't think of anything original.... |
