I saw this kind of sprite on Ghettoyouth's hack: Panic in the Mushroom Kingdom 2.This is probably a hex edit of the original venus. What changes did Ghettoyouth made to the original venus?I want a detailed explanation.

He said he'd submit the sprite later.

Idk... I think it's Fu's fault for naming them like that on LM.
Or you meant something else?

Also, this is going really off-topic. :[

It's not like the original topic was going anywhere, no ? His question has already been answered, and now he just has to wait to get what he wants...

I just meant a sprite is a graphical entity, yet everyone here seems to include its behavior/programming in the definition of the word. Never touched LM so I wouldn't know, but at least that explains it...

SMW Hacking (thanks mostly to LM) uses a custom definition for 'sprite' in addition to sprite as you defined it. In this, it's an object that can move around a level and interact with mario/the level.

...which can get really confusing.

We have no choice but to keep the word "sprite" as the word for "enemies and such", as that's how Lunar Magic defines it.

Our best choice is to get a new word for "sprite", as in, the things that are drawn to the screen.

Suggestions:
OBJECT (This is is the official name for this kind of sprites)
Sprite tile
Screensprite
SNES sprite

If you want to find a replacement for the sprite word and not the LM term, then maybe "sprite gfx", although it's technically redundant.

SNES Sprite is good.

I'd go with either SNES Sprite or Object. I suppose Object / OBJ is the correct technical term (the offical docs use those terms afterall), but they both do an OK job of getting across the point that they're sprites drawn by the SNES.

I suggest we try to keep this the same, it will confuse new hackers and such.

New hackers shouldn't be jumping right into the hardware side of things.

As far as they need to be concerned, sprites are the enemies in SMW, who cares about the technical side of things.

I support Object myself. Once you get into coding, it becomes important to know the difference, but until then it's my opinion that "sprite" works well enough.

Doesn't LM refer to layers 1 and 2 as objects?
